Fair play, there are some very fine tracks on this album. Her voice and his playing are absolute top draw quality.

The last three tracks are remixes and this was a big mistake. The superior originals are already elsewhere on the album. It might of been better to include additional material from their two very fine previos albums.

All said and done, a fine addition to your collection.

I got this album after it was recommended to me by a friend, and I'm very glad I forked out the cash for it. The songs have more of an aggression to them than Cave's other albums, and is a definite must-have for fans of his previous band, The Birthday Party. The music flows perfectly, and tracks like 'In The Ghetto' and title track 'From Her To Eternity' really bring the album to life. This is the debut album from Nick Cave and his backing group The Bad Seeds, and is a must in any serious record collection.

This is Nick Lowe's first album under his own name ( afaik ) reissued & enhanced with bonustracks, remastered & repackaged on CD ( also available on LP for us vintage buffs ). The bonustracks have been released as "The Wilderness years" ( @ least most of them ) & are just as good as the "proper" album-songs - I missed "Let's go to the disco" though, maybe this little Lowe/Edmunds-ditty will see the light again on another reissue ?

For me this album more or less defined the term "power-pop" when it first came out in 1978 - catchy refrains, combined with sometimes odd arrangements & corny, but well fitting sound-effects + Lowe's trademark production. I'm Your Fan unlocks the broad sweep of Cohen's composing talent in a dazzling variety of voices and styles. First the gripes: Nick Cave's pointless Tower Of Song is a waste and the House Of Love's tepid Who By Fire provides no new perspectives. Also, REM's messy First We Take Manhattan is stupid. But gems abound: Ian McCulloch soars through Hey, That's No Way To Say Goodbye, adding his own melancholy twist to the song's sublime sadness; The Pixies storm through I Can't Forget at 200 km/h while That Petrol Emotion poignantly render Stories Of The Street. The Unforgettable Fire

I could sum this album up easily in just one sentence by simply saying that The Unforgettable Fire is easily my favourite U2 album, and without-a-doubt one of my favourite albums ever.

The first 5 tracks are perfect, just perfect, it is probably the greatest half of an album ever released in my opinion. Sure "Pride" is overplayed but it is a brilliant song just like the other 4 on this half of the album, including the oh to often overlooked "Wire" and "Promenade".

The second half of the album starts of with a nice short mood piece called "4th of July", it is a song I would probably never listen to it by itself but it fits in with the album nicely and I can't imagine it without it. If you grew up in the 70s / 80s this should be an essential part of the soundtrack of your youth.

Starting from 'In the City' it is phenomenal to hear how clean the Jam sounded from the start, and how they quickly progressed to the many hits that were the mainstay of their career.

Pleasing also is that amongst the 29 tracks you also get such album classics as A Bomb and English Rose.

Overall this is a good alternative to buying the back catalogue if you want more than just the top 20 version of the band.

A marvellous collection of some of ABCs catalogue of excellence on a pretty reasonably priced CD.It's like a night out in an '80's disco but without some of the godawful dross produced by certain other bands of the time,that you had to endure!!
ABC were a top '80's band & the hits they had were a testament to the quality they produced.This CD is a really enjoyable nostalgia trip for those who enjoyed them first time around & a great starting point for those who may have just discovered them.
For me the pick of the crop for showing off Fry's vocal talent is "All Of My Heart" but classics like "Look Of Love", "Poison Arrow" & "When Smokey Sings" keep the quality coming.
A bargain in every way - buy,buy,buy !!

B-52's

I have been listening to the B-52's non stop lately and they are far more creative than their party band image gives credit for. This is a classic album, but like most classic albums it takes a few listens to get below the surface... It has got some classic guitar licks on it, some classic dance rhythms, classic vocals and some altogether classic songs. Watch their 1978 performance of Dance This Mess Around on YouTube and you will see they are a proper band and a very good one too, talented without being moody and pretentious. What could be more refreshing than that?
