Fair play, there are some very fine tracks on this album. Her voice and his playing are absolute top draw quality.
The last three tracks are remixes and this was a big mistake. The superior originals are already elsewhere on the album. It might of been better to include additional material from their two very fine previos albums.
All said and done, a fine addition to your collection.

It never ceases to amaze me how in those early days Paul Humphreys and Andy McCluskey were able to create such incredible sounds out of such basic, rubbish equipment. But I guess that's why their music had so much appeal to me. It was inventive and creative.
For me, their self-titled debut album more than any other captured this inventiveness and creativity. Songs like Electricity, The Messerschmitt Twins and Pretending To See The Future have stood the test of time well.
Sadly, after the commercial failure of their 4th album Dazzle Ships they lost much of that inventiveness and creativity, by focussing on trying to write records that sell. Sadly, OMD will be remembered as a middle of the road, 80s pop band; let's not even go there ... Read More:

Besides the obvious highlight, 'Enola Gay', most of this is mediocre 80's synth, grating and dated-sounding.
The synth grates after a while, and the likes of 'Messages' is repetitive and hokey, without even any lyrics to drag it above average. 'Souveneir sounds like something you would hear playing in B&Q or General George, utterly banal.
The vocals are unpleasant, and the rest of the album plays out in the same way, so inoffensive it's offensive. Droning synth-by-numbers.

This is Nick Lowe's first album under his own name ( afaik ) reissued & enhanced with bonustracks, remastered & repackaged on CD ( also available on LP for us vintage buffs ). The bonustracks have been released as "The Wilderness years" ( @ least most of them ) & are just as good as the "proper" album-songs - I missed "Let's go to the disco" though, maybe this little Lowe/Edmunds-ditty will see the light again on another reissue ?
For me this album more or less defined the term "power-pop" when it first came out in 1978 - catchy refrains, combined with sometimes odd arrangements & corny, but well fitting sound-effects + Lowe's trademark production. It's a shame this album has been unavailable for so long - hopefully his other unavailable albums will be reissued ... Read More:

Well i think it's all been said by Matt, this cd doe's bring out the best in Tony Hadley's voice. It's a great cd by a great group 'Through the barricades' was a fantastic song which sent out a lot of emotions which i would say was down to the brillient song writting by Gary Kemp. I just wish i was a bit older when they were still together as they are my favourite group now and i am only 16 yearys old. So i would have to say it is a must for any Spandau Ballet fan.

this is where it all started trace any modern day punk bands origins and they all begin with iggy pop. a true master, without ever needing to take himself too seriously

I'm Your Fan unlocks the broad sweep of Cohen's composing talent in a dazzling variety of voices and styles. First the gripes: Nick Cave's pointless Tower Of Song is a waste and the House Of Love's tepid Who By Fire provides no new perspectives. Also, REM's messy First We Take Manhattan is stupid. But gems abound: Ian McCulloch soars through Hey, That's No Way To Say Goodbye, adding his own melancholy twist to the song's sublime sadness; The Pixies storm through I Can't Forget at 200 km/h while That Petrol Emotion poignantly render Stories Of The Street. Pity they changed the lyrics though, as did James on their meandering but moving version of So Long Marianne. The emotional timbre of Stephen Duffy's voice gently cress Bird On A Wire, followed by Geoffrey ... Read More:

I was lucky enough to see the Heads live, and this reissue of the early 1980s album was well overdue.Put simply, they were one of the best live bands I've ever heard, and this, especially the second disc, does them justice at last.
The original album has been expanded to include music from the 1978 tours and the full setlist of the 1980-81 band-check the version of "Animals" and "Once in a Lifetime".
Highly recommended, and if you're new to the Heads,it's much better, and better value, than any of the compliations/greatest hits CDs that are on offer.Enjoy!!
