After one unsuccessful album, Cyndi recorded three albums in the eighties (She's so unusual, True colors, A night to remember) that gave her plenty of success and it is from these three albums that this compilation is mainly assembled. Some of her later albums, though less successful, are well worth hearing but it is the eighties that most people associate with Cyndi.
So, this compilation includes all of Cyndi's important hits of the eighties including Girls just want to have fun, Time after time (later covered by Eva Cassady among others), She bop, All through the night, True colors, Change of heart (with the Bangles on backing vocals), What's going on (a cover of a Marvin Gaye classic) and I drove all night (which also became a ... If you have a casual fondness for The Clash then maybe best not to bother with this.
However, if like me you think The Clash are the greatest band of all time then you simply must own this - ignore the bad reviews you will see!
Sure, there are a few songs on here that you will listen to once or twice and probably never again, but there is an albums worth of around 20 excellent songs on here that any serious Clash fan must own.
If you are just getting into The Clash however, you would be better buying the debut album, give em enough rope and London Calling first - as this could scare you off!

This is the best album I've heard in ages! Being a collection spanning Jimy Somemrville's career, it is a real mixture of old favourites and some less well known tracks. To be played loudly at all times and singing along is a must.

This is my favourite of the 2 Specials albums. 'More Specials' is quirkier, but this is equally fun and more up-tempo. I love to leap around to this record at every oportunity, (much to the annoyance of my neighbours). I could wiffle on about all of the profound lyrics and such and Terry Hall's deadpan style, but once you buy this record then you will find out for yourself. Suffice to say that this record is well worth getting for your collection. If you like that 2 tone sound, then it really doesn't get any better than this. And at this price it is a steal!!!!

Every single song on this CD seems designed to drive you mad . Awful pretentious smart-arsery that at the time was designed to make punk acceptable to the very people who didn't want it anywhere near their nice stereo's . The only consolation ( albeit a slim one ) is that at least it's better than Sting's solo stuff . But then , so is dysentery .

As a huge fan of U2, I don't like this compilation and never listen to it. I only bought it for the Milan DVD (which is worth it) and the booklet. I have all the songs already, obviously, but that's not why this is a bad 'Best Of'. It's because it really isn't the best of. I know that is an opinion, but I don't see how you can release something so titled and ignore almost a whole decade of a band's career. I understand this CD is for new fans who might have got into U2 just recently, but this is no way to show them what to expect. It's heavily weighted in favour of the 00s output, with the 80s following behind, and the 90s almost airbrushed out of history. It's a shame because for me, the 90s was the time of U2's best and most exciting stuff. Achtung Baby and Zooropa ... Read More:

The Specials Singles is just that containing at least the a-sides of the 45's of one the greatest bands of all time. Opening with one of the strongest debut single of all time `Gangsters' it moves through double `a' side `Rudi, a Message to You' and `Nite Klub' to the first side of there live EP `Too Much Too Young' and the Skatalite inspired `Guns of Navarone'.
Stand alone single `Rat Race' is next before we move into less comfortable territory with double `a' `Stereotype' b/w `International Jet Set' and then `Do Nothing'. The magnificent `Ghost Town' is next together with both of its equally good b-sides `Why?' and `Friday Night, Saturday Morning'.
The quality drops as Terry Hall, Neville Staples and Lynval Golding leave to form Fun Boy Three and The ... Read More:

I am not a massive Talking Heads fan, but I love 'Remain in Light' and got this Best-of as well to sample all of their other albums at once. However, I am suspicious that this is not a truely representative selection because the three songs from 'Remain in Light' have been so poorly selected. Surely 'Born Under Punches (The Heat Goes On)' and 'Crosseyed And Painless' - absolutely monster tracks - should have taken precedence over the comparatively low-key 'Houses in Motion' and 'This Must be the Place'. Of course, 'Once in a Lifetime' is a shoe-in and appears here in all its glory. Nevertheless, it is poor decisions like this that can make a novice survey the career of a great band and say 'What was all the ... Read More:

Well, here we are again, happy as can be..... well, not quite as it happens.
For the umpteenth time since 1984, we witness the arrival of yet another Japan compilation, or should we say the best of their Virgin Records years. Quite simply, this compilation takes us, in recording terms, from late-1979 to late-1981. It almost completely ignores the band's Hansa material from 1977-1979, including classic cuts from their two 1978 albums such as the reggae-infused Rhodesia, the post-punk sounding Communist China, the moody pop of Adolescent Sex, the edgy Stateline and the epic Suburban Berlin. Sure, their earlier years were patchy, but there were some masterful highlights which have been purposely ignored here.
Other notable exclusions include the brilliant synth-pop of ... Read More:

Buying this CD like me, as a reminder of my teenage days, you might now find
some of the lyrics primitive and a few tracks outdated in soundscape. However,
including Kershaw's debut album Human Racing almost in its entirety
and a good half of the second release, The Riddle, this CD is a particularly
good option to get also the less known tracks (the contemplative Human Racing
or Save the Whale, the futuristic Drum Talk or Dancing Girls that might be
difficult to come by on a digital release nowadays. If you like the 80s futu
pop stuff, Kershaw Essential is a place to go.
