This record really does require simultaneous plays it's obligatory. I got the record on the back of reading about Thurston Moore's(sonic youth) remix of Yoko Ono's rising remixes album in which he incorporates the white noise, avant garde brutality of masonna to great effect. This album(inner mind mystique) really is one to stand back and be amazed at, at first it's hard to fathom and decipher where the structures begin to kick in and what the direction of the album as a whole is aiming to achieve. Yet by the sixth, seventh listen i warmed to the whole concept and freely listen to it now at most opportunities. One of my favourite Merzbow related releases - this sees M.A. swaping material with Smegma in order for them to add their own little touches to each others work. Its pretty great and the 2 long tracks (each containing a number of smaller pieces within) are brutal, but always interesting. The 1st track, which is Merzbow 'remixing' Smegma, sounds little like any other Smegma work - this is due to Merzbow obliterating Smegma's work with his usual hardcore gustoe! The Smegma remixing Merzbow track is more of the same, but includes some of Smegma's more usual traits, (i.e. avant garde music with bass, drums, winds etc) mixed over the top of Merzbow's racket - its not very Smegma, but it is worth listening to if you're a Smegma fan. I highly reccommended ... Read More:
This is a very special reissue for fans of the AC. The original pressing was a run of 300 LPs, all with covers individually hand painted by the band. Having been out of print since the day it was released, fans have had to pay out the ass for Hollinndagain on eBay for the last four years. This is now no longer the case, which will make those fans quite happy... and they'll prolly be the only ones. The spirit behind those tracks was that most of the people who attended these early shows were friends of the band who often saw them play. So, instead of having their pals shell out for the same old tunes time and time again, the AC decided to constantly form new jams. In the interest of creativity, the opening "I See You Pan" sounds like someone ... Read More:
