It is also a must buy for any fan of Edwins and will give the viewer a unique perspective into Edwin's style of performance. The way Edwin handled and appreciated an audience is clearly shown as is his pleasure at performing live. There is an amazing acapella segment which has to be seen, featuring just Edwin's voice and the percussion section. The DVD also showcases the talents of The Team, Edwin's band, and the finely tuned rapport Edwin had with each of the musicians. Today everyone's an expert:
"Soul began with Sam Cooke in 1957"
"Soul began with the Isley Brothers when they recorded Shout"
Or "Soul began with Ray Charles when he fused Gospel music into R & B"
Whatever the fact is that in the U K all this was simply pop music most of which had the power of causing people to switch off the radio!
It wasn't all Elvis and Buddy Holly and Pat Boone-who adults were just about coming to terms with.
Suddenly a disc is played on the radio of the Falcons singing I found a love oh what a love.And it was only played by the deejay to demonstrate just how terrible this so called R & B was!
As for Ray Charles-how tuneless could you get-just a load of screeching!!

Party Lights was originally supposed to be the B side of a single called Disappointed and is definitely more commercial as the disc fit in with the whole area of twist and locomotion songs.A soundalike follow up Walk me home from the party scraped the Hot 100 but that was about it.
Really Claudine Clark is as good as anybody in black girl vocalists but maybe it wasn't a good idea to record a song called Walking in the cemetery!
Her only album was chock full of covers which fit in with the theme eg Havin' a party.
Her later records were more in a soul idiom such as The Strength to be Strong
