Rather than mix all the tracks up, each of the three CD's adopts a theme; Romantic, Disco or Classic. This gives you three distinct CD's instead of one big messy triple album. As to the songs, just look at the track listings! Sure there may be some classics which aren't included but the glass is well over half full and at this price its impossible to find better value. Whether you want to dance, chill, get an intro to Soul or just add a collection of gems to your soul music library; this is it, this is soul!

Furthermore, thirty of the tracks are brand new stereo mixes, a labour of love for Tom Moulton, who has really brought out the best in these songs and the Funk Brothers' unparalleled playing while retaining the feel of the mono originals. I especially relished those in previously unheard full-length mixes. Several of the previously released titles are still relatively hard to find, though of course this still leaves the set more attractive to newcomers to Motown, as long-term ... Read More:

well-assembled box set containing just some of Motown's most golden and definitive classics. Nobody knew Motown Records was going to take off in the way it did. Berry Gordy intended to use his artists to break down the then racial barriers, intending to encapsulate a golden and distinct sound that would not only please a black audience but would too appeal to whites. Berry Gordys visions for the company paid off. Key artists like Diana Ross, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson and Stevie Wonder attracted a huge following from both blacks and whites.
Seemingly echoing the restrictions of ghetto life in Detroit (which is where Motown began) was the effective, bluesey Money (Thats What I Want) by Barret Strong, Motowns debut release. There ... Read More:

It's not often you get a collection without a single weak track, but this is the exception to the rule. All the tracks are Wigan or pre-Wigan, simply brilliant CD.
