The sound quality is excellent and the anouncement at the beginning along with the uniterupted play of the cd transports you to the sands hotel, January 1960. Nat is on top form, really swinging. One of the highlights for me is his rendition of 'I wish you love', where he delivers a master class in phrasing and balladering. I think these silly Pop Idol kids should be forced to listen to this (along with 50's Ella and Frank) before they grace our TV screens! This set also features Nat at the piano, as he plays 'Where or When'. It's a shame that so many people do not realise that he was one of the great Jazz pianists of all time. Will young is unknown in Australia, but after this performance he has established his International singing and acting credentials. Within minutes of seeing teh film I had to order the CD, Goody Goody and teh closing credits of Little Green Hat make this a must buy if you love the 30's 40'a or Charelston era. |
