Aquarela Do Brazil

.... could have been a bit more Brazillian sounding!

I love Dionne (& saw her live in Birmingham last year) & love Cuban, S. American music so I had high hopes of this album.

It starts of really well with the first 3 tracks creating a lovely loose, jazzy feel but other parts of the album are rather boring without much obvious Brazillian influence.

Bit of a missed opportunity I think, esp. as Ms Warwick loves Brazil so much!

Worth buying though.

...okay not quite up with Live at The Sands or Live in Paris but a great example of an older mellow Sinatra singing not just the big hits. A worthy beautiful souding album. Sinatra live is the way he really should be heard and I'd happily give up any of my many studio Sinatra albums before I'd give up any of my live ones.

The chief attribute of this 1969 Frank Sinatra album is the title track with its lyrics written especially for the singer by Paul Anka, which became not only his signature song for the remainder of his life and his musical epitaph. But beyond the big hit single this is a rather standard Sinatra album for the late Sixties. Sinatra covers an array of pop songs by the Beatles (a melancholy "Yesterday"), Stevie Wonder ("For Once In My Life"), Simon & Garfunkle (a very hip and swinging "Mrs. Robinson), and a Jacques Brel/Rod McKuen effort ("If You Go Away").
