Somehow Steve Conway has been so ignored in the past 30 years or so, that it is hard to remember that he really existed and just how popular he was during his short career. His style was incredibly haunting and rather mournful,and he died tragically young in 1952. Had he survived a few years longer, I am certain he would have ranked along with the best Britain had to offer in the mid- to late-Fifties - Dickie Valentine, Ronnie Hilton, Dennis Lotus and the rest. If some of the tracks sound rather dated these days, many of the others still have a poignant quality that transends the years as well as the sometimes slightly flat recording quality - songs like "Sentimental Me" and "At The End Of The Day" - the latter one, familiar to all Radio Luxembourg ...
