You simply cannot please everybody when it comes to putting together an album that professes to include "The Greatest Novelty Records Of All Time" as Dr. Demento does for this 20th Anniversary Collection. I take one look at the playlist and want to know where is Groucho Marx singing "Lydia the Tatooed Lady" and probably everybody has a different "Weird Al" Yankovic song they would rather listen to than "Eat It." But then it is not like this is the only collection the good doctor has thrown our way. This 20th Anniversary Collection does include a good number of "must have" novelty hits, from "Cocktails for Two" by Spike Jones and "Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah" by Allen Sherman to Steve Martin's "King Tut" and "The Time Warp" from "The Rocky Horror ... This is a truly odd CD. Napoleon XIV drifts from childhood at 43 to near psychosis, with perhaps the sanest track on the entire album being a hymn to the redemptive qualities of Iowa pot ("I owe a lot/To Iowa pot/And I don't mean Iowa corn"). We are taken to places in which the nuts hunt the squirrels, and in which the girl who pre-empted the psychosis from which most of the tracks seem to derive pops up repeatedly, in various forms:on one, she is a photograph on the wall - unfortunately, being as how she's gone, the photo transmorgrifies into a window, and the song peters out in a shower of broken glass and the thud of a falling body. In the single "They're coming to take me away", and its sequel, "They're coming to get ... Read More:

This stuff is frickin hilarious, Its just a load of rap about science but spoken in computer language (i.e. Hawking language)
You have to hear it to comprehend its full hilarity so i seriously advise you to get it or at least download a few tracks first.
Especially liked "Fu** The Creationists" and "Entropy" very clever
If Steve ever gets bored studying black holes, there's always going to be a place for him in the music industry - 'Big up' MC Hawking

This is the very first album by top US musical humorist Weird Al and like all his albums, contains enough gems that withstand repeated listens to make it worth a purchase. ANOTHER ONE RIDES THE BUS and MR FRUMP IN THE IRON LUNG are outstanding and the track "GOTTA BOOGIE" with it's disco beat and punchline of "Gotta boogie on my finger and I can't flick it off" will have you in stitches. This album represents the start of something great!

From a psychological perspective food is clearly a pivotal element in the work of "Weird Al" Yankovic, even more so than television. This is why of those two thematic collections "The Food Album" is the better of the pair. The question would be why you do not already have the best of these satirical songs in your music library. "I Love Rocky Road," "Eat It," and "Fat" would be considered the classic "Weird Al" pieces, although I have a fondness for "My Bologna" as one of the best uses of the accordion in Yankovic's career (outside the awesome polka medlies). As far as the rest of the tracks go, it is just a question of, well, taste. "The Theme from Rocky XIII" is above average in my book, but most of the rest, such as "Lasagna" and "Addicted to Spuds," ... Read More:

This album is amazing. It's just so funny, if you take it with a pinch of salt that is. The odd song may offend some but they're not meant to, at least that's what Barnes & Barnes claim. I'd never heard their music before and I originally only bought it because half of Barnes & Barnes is Bill Mumy of Lost In Space and Babylon 5 fame, and the song titles looked so silly. I didn't know what to expect when I first played it but since I've played it to all my friends and they agree with me, this album rules, especially Fish Heads and The Public Toilet.
