Most of this stuff rocks along to a jolty drum track, while others move along in spacey Moog heaven. "Cleopatra" by Georges Teparino is just an incredible up-rocking tune, surely Isaac Hayes must've heard this before Shaft? The sound quality is excellent, even though it appears to be dubbed from vinyl. Buy it, give it to your children in 40 years time, and I guarantee it will still sound futuristic and fresh.

Many people thought that this follow up to their debut 'un-leded' was a major disappointment.While I acknowledge the magnificence of their debut(its actually tort's favourite),5000,000 shows the boys spreading their wings producing reworkings of zep numbers ,as well as their own compositions.With the exception of 'nobody's fault but mine', I think Dreads own songs are the best tracks on the album.'do the claw' and 'big ol'gold belt' are instant classics and still live favourites.This album confirms what a tremendous band were and remain to this day.Check out 'dejah voodoo' to confirm how the band have continued to develop creatively, producing innovative,cutting edge music.

This is a unique musical style, klezmer comedy. Mickey Katz is the lead vocalist, band leader, and clarinetist. These are witty parodies of popular hits from the 1950s sung in a mix of English and Yiddish. This CD brought back childhood memories as my parents bought the Mickey Katz 45 rpm recording of Sixteen Tons (digitally remastered on this CD).
My favorite selections are Sixteen Tons, Michaye in Hawaii, Yiddish Mule Train, and Duvid Crockett (King of Delancey St.). No, this version of Sixteen Tons is about a counterman in a kosher delicatessan, not a coal miner.
The arrangements are top notch. It's worth mentioning that Mickey Katz was the father of actor Joel Grey.

Ella Fitzgerald is not normally associated with drug songs but there's a couple on here and my vote for the greatest title is When I get low I get high.
Helen Ward-who was one of the Benny Goodman singers-is another unlikely contender.
Most of this sort of thing would never have been issued in the U K and even if it had been the BBC would have put the stoppers on it.
Or so we're led to believe but Cole Poret must have got away with the most blatant reference to dugs in I get a kick out of you.
While Fats Domino-who you might have expected to sing about the joys of drugtaking actually "cleaned up" Junkers Blues to create his first single which became an ode to himself-The Fat Man.
