Well, the Toy Dolls have been going for well over 20 years now, so surely they must have run out of steam? Well no. This is one of my favourite Toy Dolls albums. The opening song - The Death Of Barry The Roofer With Vertigo - sets the standard and the album never lets up. It's the usual Toy Dolls fare, punk with a smile. Olga's guitar work is as masterful as always and Tommy Goober and Dave The Nut (on bass and drums respectively) sound like they've been in the band for ever. I won't go through the tracks one by one, but there a couple of covers: She's So Modern - Boomtown Rats and The Final Countdown - Europe (with added kazoos!), a couple of older tunes (Chenky is a Puff, Yul Brynner) and a whole lot of fun in between. And best of all? ... Read More:

It's actually a bit deceptive to call Gabby La La a pop singer. It usually makes you think of Britney, Ashlee or Hilary.
But Gabby is about as different from those as a golden glea is from a fortune cookie. With her quirky songwriting (chasing down leprechauns? Eating mermaid?), catchy songs, and the most unusual singing voice I've heard in a very long time.
It starts off with a pair of almost painfully catchy songs: "Be Careful What You Wish For" and "Backpack" ("Gotta keep track of me backpack!") with their tales of genies, mermaids and Roman tourism. It's almost impossible not to hear these simple, bouncy little infectious tunes without bouncing in your seat.

Top notch, marx brothers meets dixieland jazz and a whole host of other influences. I bought it for the rhythm and it has that in spades, which they probably played too, but what took me by surprise was the infectious humour. It puts a smile on your face and raises your spirits, these were a genuine bunch of wags having great fun playing great music. I thought 4 cd's would be too much but I couldn't get enough of them. I whistled on the way to work this morning. Doctors orders - take at least once a week!
