Let's come on like an objective fact: The greatest lost pop artefact in the history of recorded time is 'Confections Of Love' by Brute Force (Columbia, 1968)....'Extemporaneous' is no 'Confections Of Love' but it is still a vital recording of a Pop Zeus (Stephen Friedland) stomping around the stage, melody effortlessly falling from his free associating gob. The studio extras on this CD (Tapeworm Of Love, King Of Fuh, Nobody Knows What's Going On In My Mind But Me, Vicky) are more significant than the entire back catalogue of that Rolling-Bowie-Dylan-Beatles Band that used to be all the rage.
