weird Al is so original and fresh. And this album certainly maintains that tradition. Of note is his parody of Avril Lavignes's complicated, you'll be rolling in the aisle. Also worthy of note, is Al's very own 'party at the leper colony' and 'ode to a superhero'
he is as fresh and orginal as he is funny, keep em coming Al.

The first one was a ring tone extravaganza, with fresh takes on catchy tunes like Axel-F and Popcorn. This one is more a compilation of catchy songs featuring Crazy Frog, where the Frog is relegated to back-up and choruses.

The versions of Queen's "We Are the Champions", the "Knightrider" theme, Right Said Fred's "I'm Too Sexy" and Gloria Gaynor's disco masterpiece "I Will Survive" are the better tracks on the album, but "Nellie the Elephant" wins the novelty prize for pure unadulterated cuteness. "The Final Countdown" also brings back some memories, and anybody who's listened to K-Fed's album will snigger at the version of "Ice Ice Baby". Ignore the last four tracks - they're just filler material.

I had not heard any music by this group prior to borrowing a copy of this album - however, this is an excellent Christmas album. As you would expect from a gospel group, they focus almost exclusively on the religious aspect of the festival, the sole exception being White Christmas. There is a different guest singer on each track except the opening and closing tracks, which are without guests.

With any album featuring a variety of guests, one's favorites depend to some extent on one's opion of the various guests. For example, my favorite guest is Shelby Lynne, who does a fine duet of The Christmas song - however, it's not quite my absolute favorite track. This is a compilation of the pieces recorded by one of the best UK instrumental groups of the early 60's. I confess that I usually skip the somewhat untypical couple of tracks in which the group backs a singer. However, the reworkings of traditional tunes (eg Miller Like Wow) from their EP are good fun, albeit somewhat quirky as rock instrumentals go. Nonetheless, the main fare is the comprehensive collection of tracks from the Flee-Rekkers' 45's (ranging from the vigorous Green Jeans through to the very polished Fireball): if you liked such groups as the Shadows and Johnny and the Hurricanes, I think you'd enjoy these tracks too. Just bad, really. Really bad. I'm a Zappa fan of the 1st order, and I've now appologised to my ears for subjecting them to this album of tripe.

Purchase Cheap Thrills but leave the 'Son Of' on the shelf. I wish I could say something nice about it, other than the CD has a nice cover, but I can't.

This is the first Posthumous Zappa CD that has no redeming features at all. Just buy Unlce Meat or Sheik Yerbooti and be done with it.

Handling Swollen Goods

This CD is not office-safe. After chucking through the first few tracks, and getting annoyed glances from my colleagues, I finally cracked after the opening of "Down by the riverside" and had leave the office where I exploded into fits of laughter in the fire exit. Absolutely hilarious.

Ever since his 2 big hits of 1973 there has been an endless parade of "best ofs" and "greatest hits" but here it seems like we can finally hear all the stuff left off.
Stevens was a very talented parodyist who never missed a trick and constantly rang the changes like his bluegrass version of Erroll Garner.
Beginning in the 50s as a musician in Georgia-where the pool included Joe South and Jerry Reed he was first off the mark with a hit single-1962's Ahab the Arab followed up by a song which at the time had the longest title yet .
By the middle of the decade he was on Monumemnt with his brand of country music and comedy but the big one came in the 70s with the much covered Everything is beautiful.
