This is one of the best CDs I own now. I have tried for years to get it and now I just chill to the sound of Hey Lover, Doin it and the ultimate tune Loungin... HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

behind the shades burn the vigilent eyes of a revolutionary.where bob marley and even the brilliant stevie wonder fail to truly evoke their disdain for societies moral regression gsh shoots straight from the hip.this is a timeless album equally neccesary and insightful today as george w bush creates anew america in his own hixville likeness as it was in 1981."grandmas hands" is however desecration on alarge scale especially if you happen to be a bill withers fan."is that jazz blows a mingus style vibe and gets a groove going and eases the feel of the album."inner city blues keeps the soul feel running;not as good as washington jrs. version but without doubt solid and interesting.its at this point gill digs deep and drags ... The first annoyance is that all the tracks are mixed. Now this isn't surprising as it's what you got on the original 80's Electro's. Only problem is that the mixing on the originals was smooth and actually added a quality to the album. I still remember an excellent transition between Chris the Glove Taylor's Itchiban Scratch to the B Boys Stick up Kid (Street Sounds Electro 7) and that was over 20 years ago (Yes I feel old - but I was at school). On this compilation the tracks seem to have been scratched-mixed in a hurry. Why scratch the beginning of Rockit when the beginning is a scratch???? Some of the scratching also puts the tracks out of time and seems misplaced at times.
Next problem is the length of the tracks. Fitting 24 ... Read More:

Mantronix have been ill served by some of the 'Best of' compilations that have been issued over the years, and this collection doesn't exactly improve upon what has been seen before. Drawing predominantly on 'The Album' and 'Music Madness', there is only one track from 'In Full Effect' ('Simple Simon') and the now obligatory 'King Of The Beats', which appears on numerous compilations (Mastercuts 'Clasic Hip Hop' for example). There are also tracks from the ill fated move to Capitol Records ('Gotta Have Your Love' etc).
I suspect that the primary reason for this release was to prepare the market for the release of 'I Sing The Body Electro', which was scheduled to take place sometime soon after (although it was released it was not originally ... Read More:

This is a nice album, you just have to love slick ricks style, his flow, his both funny and serious lyrical content, it is what made him. This album was released in '98 and is his most recent offering so if you're not a fan of the old skool, after listening to this album you're gona want to hear more, and with this I also recommend his debut "The great adventures of slick rick"

I've always liked LL but for some reason i had never got round 2 buyin this 1. I had 5 others though. I decided to buy this cuz its him and the cover looked wicked. It turned out just as good as his others. I took a bit of getting used to the sounds but it was quality afta 2 full listens. My favourite tunes are 'LL Cool J','Homocide','The G.O.A.T' and 'Can't think'. This album still looks and sounds as good as it did 4 years ago.
I would well recommend buyin this album (even if its quite expensive).

All waves.
This ESG is something fantastic. It supposed to be on a hot revival journey by now in terms of ALL WAVES. This is music I've heard in the beginning of the 80's as a friend of mine was working in a record shop and having his own pirate radio station in Arnhem, Holland. I knew it had to do with Liquid Liquid kind of approach. Well, I went to Paris in 1994 and I picked up the 12" version of this record with: you're no good, Moody, UFO, Earn it, ESG and HEY ! It was a thrill to find it there and Paris can be good for finding records. But it now appears, that the internet is even better. I think you find yourself sublimely unique by discovering the ideal pop, dub, funk, punk approach, where John Lydon and Pil should have gone but shamelessly failed ... Read More:

That Kurtis Blow was one of the very first rappers to popularise the genre is not in dispute. Essentially at this time the majority of rap music was first and foremost a fun and party friendly kind of music totally different to the styles and lyrics of today's stars like Eminem. This was Kurtis's first album and features the two tracks that he's still best known for in 'Rappin Blow (Part 2) (AKA 'Christmas Rappin' in it's entire version) and biggest hit 'The Breaks'. These two tracks, though a bit dated, still sound good even today and evoke memories of some seriously good times with me! Sadly, even at the time, the rest of this record was/ is pretty poor. 'Way Out West' is a daft 'wild west' rap song and along with third single 'Throughout Your Years' musically sounds ... Read More:

This LP represents a truly great moment in Hip Hop. Eric B & Rakim are to Hip-Hop what George Clinton is to funk, and this is them at their finest. Eric B's production was so ahead of its time when this LP was released, and Rakim will probably always be hailed as the most seminal of all MCs.
While I love all four Eric B & Rakim albums, I must confess that some of the tracks from their first two have not dated well and Rakim tries way too hard to be tough on most of the tracks from their fourth - although "Know the Ledge" is surely one of the greatest tracks in hip hop history. On this album they seemed to hit the perfect formula, and every track here remains flawless and timeless 17 years later.
In today's dime-a-dozen marketplace of so called ... Read More:
