This is an album that works because of the short lived synergy that existed between Kurtis Mantronik and Just-Ice, which saw Mantronik working with an MC with an entirely different vocal style to that usually seen in his work as part of Mantronix with MC Tee. The vocal delivery of Just-Ice is rougher, with a raw edge that matches perfectly some of the hardest beats that Mantronik ever produced. 'Cold Gettin' Dumb' launches out with a precision that is matched only by the insistent brain bashing cowbell underpining the track (and the popularity of the track saw the duo produce a 'Cold Gettin' Dumb Part Two' in which Just-Ice took Kurtis Blow to task), and 'Back To The Old School' is a typically idiosyncratic Mantronik production which sees short ... now mixtape 4 is absolutely classic and i would have thought this would be too, but what is going on! Eminem & Dre drop a hot track and so do Capone&Noreaga and Red, but the Snoop track is a shambles as is The Murderers one. The 2pac Biggie freestyle is pointless and bad quality and i would not reccomend this, as any other funkflex cd will beat it by miles! Try DJ Clue The Proffesional too.

First off, Marley Marl is up there on my list of favorite producers/beatmakers-- along with the Rza, DJ Premiere, Dr. Dre, and Pete Rock.
However, the material on this album is hardly fitting for its title. To make a true "Re-Entry" into the Hip-Hop world, you have to come correct and without flaws... ESPECIALLY if you are a pioneer!
Though I have my share of favorite tracks on this release, it's NOWHERE in the league of his earlier work on his "In Control" volumes, "Queensbridge Sessions" or Big Daddy Kane's debut album for that matter (remember "AIn't No Half-Steppin'? How many of us at the time would've killed to get the instrumental of that to flow to???). It's like he wanted to make ... Read More:

IS THIS A MIX CD??? Probably not. But you'd believe it was from the hype. I was so looking forward to this CD...Arthur Baker - the pioneer of so many fantastic electro classics 'in the mix.' Couldn't wait! I'd read that this was created as the result of a stunning set he performed at Creamfields. Evidence of this turntable dexterity on the CD? Bugger all. The tracks are thrown together with little thought (dance music is about cool mixes...right?). The tracks play in their entirety and at the end as they fade out another starts. Not very impressive if you love dance music. Not very impressive if you love those original tunes. What a waste of time for fans who wanted to hear an excellent mix CD of Bakers work. A real disappointment. Shame on ... Read More:
