Ever since "Picture Book" I've been waiting for Mick Hucknall to sing material like this - and now his voice is more mature it was worth waiting for. This is obviously where his heart lies and the integrity of the whole Tribute project is evident. The band used vintage instruments, and recorded in one room all together. The DVD shows Mick telling Bobby Bland how he influenced him from an early age, and the look on his face says it all - he's just a kid meeting his hero. It clearly means a lot to him when Bobby approves of this 21st century twist on his old songs.

It's easy to note from this album that the band has matured. If you are looking for more of what was in the first album you will be disappointed. However, this album is great, it's mellow and more melodic. The hard hitting lyrics and drinking binge songs have been replaced by more tranquil tracks. I loved the first album and I love this one, for different reasons.

What a fantastic introduction to Bonamassa's work. I bought this on the strength of some of the reviews on Amazon - it just goes to show their worthiness. This truely is an amazing slab of guitar work and I've been touting Bonamassa's talents to anyone who will listen (and John Mayer's too actually..)
The title track is the one that stands out for me. How this chap isn't more notorious, I don't know.

Like the previous reviewer, I would also like to start in questionable fashion... Why on earth are people comparing this to the likes of Play and Hotel? What you all fail to realise is that Moby release's albums centred around a different theme, a feeling. To call him an individual artist to a specific genre is wrong; the likes of Play and Hotel demonstrated his freedom to cross many different sub-genres, whereas this album, (as it CLEARLY explains in the CD booklet, if anyone even bothered to read it) is inspired by his days clubbing with friends until the early mornings around the late 80's/early 90's. Considering the amount of hype that has followed this band over the last few months you could perhaps forgive them for not meeting expectations with their debut album; 'Partie Traumatic'. Fortunatly for them and us listeners they have managed to exceed them, with an exciting an relentless ten track treat.
They seem to have manged to create an album jam packed with singles; 'I Want To Be Your Limosine' manages to revive disco and bring it bang up to date with it's funky baseline and sleazy lyrics. Singles 'Hurricaine Jane' and I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance' are of course stand out tracks and sit happily alongside the girating 'Look At Me When I Rock Wichoo' to name but one.
