God, this girls good! I wanted this album since hearing the addictive Case of the Ex and had high expectations of it. Excellent is an understatement. I can truly say all 18 tracks are amazing, with great partnerships between Mya and various well known Swing/Hip-hop artists. Taking me Over with Left-Eye is a cute, catchy, happy go lucky tune as is Now or Never. The album layout is brilliant, it kicks off with girl power tunes with phat beats, then goes into bouncy, feel-good tunes and the last part of the album is packed with beautiful ballads. Mya has a wonderful, soft voice and her talents are really shown off on this album. Gabrielle... The powerful opening of 'Forget About The World' sets the scene for a very good album. The South-London pop/soul singer's second album has a completely different focus to both its predecessor, Find Your Way, and the follow-up, Rise, which are both far more pop-orientated.

On her self-titled album, Gabrielle has the most mature sound of the three albums and on most tracks it pays off - 'Give Me A Little More Time' and 'If You Really Cared' both sound like they come from the 60s and this is no criticism... after the brilliant ballads of 'People May Come' and 'I Live In Hope', they are a welcome move back in time.

I was never a fan of the Spice Girls, but there was always something about this girl that drew me in. She's fierce, fiery and she's got lots of attitude and spunk. Her role in the Spice Girls was obviously stylized, but that doesn't really matter, since it obviously worked. "Hot", her first solo album is not as great as its lead single "I Want You Back", which is a delicious slice of mystic r'n'b. Missy E. wrote the song for Melanie, and it suits her so perfectly, so I can't help but feel somewhat disappointed by the rest of the album. Melanie is a decent singer along the lines of Grace Jones and Janet Jackson, and she's certainly got the fire and drive of Grace Jones, but her music lacks the same rhythmic glory.
