The title track has never been one of my favourite Abba songs and so that doesn't start this one on a solid footing, although there is no doubt that Abba are the best thing ever to come out of the Eurovision Song Contest apart from Secret Garden.

This has a similar feel to the first album, although the real hints of pop music writing genius are becoming evident in "Hasta Manana" one of their most endearing songs and a blueprint for so many pop songs that were to follow and "Dance (While the Music Still Goes On)". Sadly songs like "Sitting in the Palm Tree" and "King Kong Song" are dreadful and the kind of thing you would expect from trashy party groups like Black Lace. Constructive criticism is one thing, but some of the scathing reviews I have read on here are nothing short of pathetic.

Quite what the hell people expect from Oasis in this day and age is beyond me. After years of relative underachievement, 'DBTT' should be celebrated not berated.

Between the release of 'Supersonic' in 1994 and the enormity of Knebworth in 1996, Oasis were untouchable. Two classic albums, nine fantastic singles (with phenomenal b-sides often topping them), a clutch of era-defining gigs... they weren't a band, they were living legends, and like many teenagers back then, Oasis meant the world to me.

This is a truly excellent album. THe acoustic sets are superb and show John Mayer off as the brilliant guitarist that he is. The trio sets and in deed some of the full band songs sound very much like Jimmie Vaughan. It is excellent, the songs are his best, from all previous album, but live. The small twiddly bits between/ leading into songs are very good and original. I would definitely recommend this any day to anyone who like rock, blues or jazz.(I mostly listen to metal by Mayer is the Jazz man that I like, he is a shinning example for all those in his genre) *****. Buy it.

The first time I ever came across Alanis was when I saw the video for "You Ought Know" on VH1 and loved it instantly! I never know who sang the song until my friend bought this CD and told me that I would love this!

And there's where my love addiction and my obsession for Alanis began! I can't express how much I love this album it is one of my all time favourites and even 13 years on I still listen to this record!

If you don't own this album you are missing out and I can't highly recommend this album enough! Lyrically this one of the best album ever! Alanis is a musical genius here lyrics are very clever, witty and catchy!

Fulfillingness' First Finale

This album won't grab you at first. I had it a while before it got under my skin. Just be patient, you will be richly rewarded.

Strongly recommended.

..oh and check the sound quality. This album is nearly 35 years old and it gives plenty of modern recordings a complete pasting.

It's not as bad as Paul thinks, but he's mostly right the only songs that have any life at all are right at the end and he probably didn't endure the banality to listen that far. 'What it takes to win' & 'turn down the world tonight' have a little more gumption than the rest of this feeble offering and just happen to be the ones where the new singer isn't trying to mimic the old singer. 'The Journey' is an instrumental nod to their 70's incarnation and isn't too bad. As for the positive reviews this has recieved from others, I can only imagine they are desperate for Journey to keep going no matter what banal tripe they push out, listen to some classic albums from journey, this just doesn't make the grade. Reviewing a best-selling, immensely popular album over 30 years after it was released is a bit like trying to evaluate Marmite. It's been around for ages, you know that people will always buy it, but everyone either loves it or hates it already, and there's little point trying to change their minds.

For me, Rumours is just about the best album ever made, and 'Go Your Own Way' is my favourite song, my desert island disc, the one that still sends a shiver up my spine and makes me smile and / or cry (or both) every time I hear it. I fell in love with this movie when it first opened in theaters and I loved all the music in it, including the score, and particularly the bit where Colin Firth proposes to Aurelia. But when I bought the CD here in the US, all it had what the popular pop stuff! (I guess they figured Americans wouldn't appreciate the beautiful instrumental music? Probably right actually.) You guys in the UK got the whole deal. It will be well worth the overseas shipping!!

The Very Best of Sting and the Police

What can you say about "Best of ..." albums that simply list the hits? Well, as "Best of" album's go, this is one of the best! Nine Police hits and another nine of Sting's as a soloist, all written by the main man himself.

One of the benefits of this format is that it allows you to revisit songs away from the context of the album in which they originally appeared. And so I was able to appreciate just how brilliant "Fields of Gold", "Brand New Day", "Desert Rose" and "If I Ever Lose My Faith In You" really are: they are truly five-star songs. But the downside is that you also realise just how annoying is "Can't Stand Losing You".

But that's the only duff track in what is an excellent selection of songs.
