Yes, yes, it is a rehash of the Best Of OMD from'88 and The OMD Singles from '98. BUT, and this is a big but...this new package contains ALL of the bands promo videos spanning their entire career.
Some of the videos show their age (although cleaned up nicely for this release), and are worth watching for nostalgic purposes. However, some of the newer vids are stunning - I will make particular mention of Walking on the Milky Way, Dream of Me, and Then You Turn Away - the purchase price is worth it for these tracks alone.
As a bonus, you get 20 remastered tracks on CD - not one of them a duffer (which makes this greatest hits package virtually unique, against most other artists).

I have been a keen advoate of all things Damon Albarn post-Graham Coxon (i.e., Blur's `Think Tank` and beyond) so was understandably quite excited by the album release of `Monkey, Journey to the West`. I had not seen the Chinese opera-spectacular which this album scores but I didn't let that dissuade me from pre-ordering this one from Amazon. What I hadn't realised was that this 22-song collection largely comprises incidental compositions from the opera and doesn't stand up as an album in its own right. Unless you have seen the opera - in which case this might make a compelling souvenir - I feel duty-bound to warn you not to expect something on the scale of other Albarn side-projects such as Gorillaz' `Demon Days`, `Mali Music` or `The Good, the Bad ... Parachutes is still my favourit album from Coldplay. This album contributed to coldplays success with great songs Shivers, Yellow, High Speed, Everythings not lost. What can I say one of the best English bands ever.

Abba's final studio album tends to divide opinion, but for me it was a fine way for them to finish thier active recording career together.
'One Of Us' was Abba's last major international hit and is probably the best known track here. The follow up song in the UK was 'Head Over Heels' which shocked everyone by peaking outside the UK top 20.
Was it all over for Abba?. Well, in terms of major hit singles it certainly was (in the US 'When All Is Said And Done' flopped also), but this album gave us a few treats and an indication of where Benny and Bjorns musical interests were going (ie musical theatre).
The title track is a mighty song that I always thought could have been a massive hit in it's own right. 'Soldiers' is a lovely Agnetha song, ... Read More:

I never usually get albums on their day of release; what I normally do is wait for reviews and then go out and buy the album but with Consolers of the Lonely this was not the case. I applaud the raconteurs for bypassing the music press and just letting the fans enjoy the music without some high almighty critic clouding their better judgement. This album is another belter from Jack and co. The album starts off with the hypnotic groove of the near title track Consoler of the Lonely topped off with White's trademark solo we have all come to love. Before you have time to digest the opening song Salute Your Solution bursts in with The Raconteurs heaviest rock songs to date with interlude of a psychedellic keys giving you a moments breather before storming back into ... Anyone who claims to be a Coldplay fan and likes this album, clearly hasn't listened to 'Parachutes' or 'A Rush of Blood to the Head' two good strong albums, littered with really good songs like 'Yellow', 'Shiver', 'The Scientist', 'In My Place' etc... , whereas 'X & Y' has no good songs, the only half decent thing i liked about this album was one of the videos where an old lady is doing some acrobatic tricks.

The popularity of this band, i'll start by saying, that i dont think they arent a good band, because they are ok. But no way are they great. Poor singing all round, extremely bad lyrics... Nothing special musically.
Perhaps the most overrated band ever, Oasis seem to continue releasing the same old stuff. Lyrics have progressed worse and worse, the music stays dull and dreary. And Noels poor singing (and liams even worse singing) make these a pretty boring band in my opinion.
I heard one of there new songs the other day (the one with the drawn video, cant remember what its called) And although it wasnt band, it seemed to be all to similar. Alot of the time it starts with a very similar tune to an old song/s but then doesnt carry through ... Read More:

An all time classic album, often imitated, but never approached let alone surpassed. Zack's vocals are incredibly emotional, and the sheer tightness and funking musicality of the band is staggering (and that comes from a guy whos played in bands for 15 years himself.)
I loved this album to death fifteen years ago. Yet, when im teaching kids today and i put it on for them, it seems just as powerful for them as it was for me back then. Stunning.

Hard to put into words how I feel about the track `No Air'. It is one of the best songs I have heard in the last 10 years or more. Jordin Sparks has an outstanding voice and was a worthy winner of American Idol. Nothing more to say than love this album and look forward to more from Ms Sparks.

Can anybody think of many double albums on which every track is even 'good' let alone a master work? They are very few and far between as the majority of them just go on for far to long with too much 'filler'. And so we come to SONGS IN THE KEY OF LIFE by MR. Stevland Morris.
After the masterpiece which was INNERVISIONS in 1973, Stevie Wonder released this magnum-opus in 1976. Is it as good as INNERVISIONS? The answer is a resounding YES, YES, YES!
Up-lifting and beautiful, happy yet melancholy, it doesn't get any better than this.
Go and buy it.
