The only way to watch this is with the sound turned down. The soundtrack is muffled and poorly dubbed. The storyline would bore a five year old and the girls voices had the sex appeal of Andy Pandy. Quite the most tedious film I have ever watched half of.
Release Date September 17, 2001
I have often mentioned that the appeal of the songs that defined the 60s was in the main down to the energy and melodic structure of the tunes. Melody is something that ran through every artist from the Beatles to Presley, Marmalade to Tom Jones, Hollies to Dusty and so on.
The Love Affair was no exception and driven by a classic pop/rock voice in Steve Ellis, they had a period of success that still puts its marker down to this very day.
The 4 stand-out hits on this album are the massive selling "Everlasting Love" plus "Bringing on back the Good Times", "Rainbow Valley" and "A Day Without Love". All are as infectiously catchy today as they were then.
In the 60s, arrangers and producers had a knack of dovetailing ... Read More:

This is truly a stunning piece of retro art.
The music is almost perfect, played by almost perfect musicians and sung by an almost perfect voice. There are distinct strains of Gloria Gaynor recorded in a manner that pays tribute to that great time in music. This could be the most perfect tribute album but, in it's own right, it is a fabulous piece of Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings. I'm so pleased I bought this.

This album is so terrible. Infact the tracks were so terrible I sent mine back. If you want to listen to proper music, listen to REM and THE BEATLES.

You may have seen Boyz II Men in the spotlight recently, as they released their own cover versions of Motown classics, which is fantastic for any fan. The Legacy is all about Boyz II Men's journey from early hip hop, or contemporary soul to power ballads, and all are included on this wonderfull collection. All their well known hits are included, from their first to 'recent' ones, made when the album was first produced in the year 2000. An absolute masterpiece.

I bet David Jordan gets a bit fed up with the "artist formerly known as" and the one-album-wonder that was T-T-D'arby comparisons. Let's give the guy a chance to enjoy his 1st album on the shelves before we consign him to either superstardom or bargain bin album no.2. He has a great R'n'B voice and strong songwriting skills - at least four or five good singles on the cd.
I was lucky enough to get this cd for my birthday after raving about the "Sun Goes Down" video to my girlfriend. I like the pace of the album, the opening track has a great guitar intro and sets up a groove that carries through to the stand-out track, Sun Goes Down, a great big bouncy track with loads of layers of rythm and sounds.
The title track changes the style to more R'n'B which ... Read More:

I'm actually listening to this album as I write my review to get some inspiration! MJ's on the music industry cannot be acknowledged as anything else but massive! He's been in the public eye since the 1960's so there's no doubting his brilliance. His private life is another subject alltogether but, that aside, the man is a pop genius who has a huge influence in a variety of musical styles. I'm not a huge MJ fan but I am able to see the mastery of his songs and the impact they have had on his fans. "Number ones" is an 18 track compilation of his greatest hits and I quite agree with the album title...they are number ones - each song in it's own way has been brilliant! Overall, I love listening to this album because it's amazing how these songs still seem fresh and relevent ... Read More:

But I don't. It sounds like this music was made in the back of a van (no pun intended) by a bunch of drunks. It rambles all over the place and never gets anywhere for me.
Release Date April 29, 2002
It's not easy being a James Brown fan. Currently, many of his original studio albums are so rare on CD that they are almost impossible to find, and instead of making them widely available, record companies force fans to buy armfuls of compilations by including small helpings of rare material on each one. However, the glut of compilations on the market at least make it easy for new fans to make their first purchase, and despite the disorganised back catalogue, further purchases are essential. Why? Because James Brown is the most influential artist of the 20th century, BAR NONE. Here's a quick history lesson: He invented funk, which evolved into disco, hip-hop, modern R&B, techno, house, trance, and every other form of contemporary dance music. They all trace back to The Godfather. ... Read More:
