This album won't grab you at first. I had it a while before it got under my skin. Just be patient, you will be richly rewarded.
Strongly recommended.
..oh and check the sound quality. This album is nearly 35 years old and it gives plenty of modern recordings a complete pasting.

think it over- chorus upon chorus of honey layered perfection- emo fans check this one out it will blow your mind this time (sorry) but this is insanely smooth- but in a way bittersweet- atmospheric to a point of almost having an eerie (overlook hotel) ingredient. Slowed down orchestral groove heaven.

I already owned the previous edition of this on CD, as will some of you, so I'll break this review in two. First the basic album, second the add-ons. Maggot Brain is one of Funkadelic's three best albums of the pre-Warner era (along with Funkadelic and Standing on the Verge). It's a move away from the bluesy, very Hendrix like funk-tinged rock of their first album into harder territory. When I first got it (on tape of all things) back in '91 I thought it was too rocky for me and some convinced soul boys may still take that view. I've come to see it for what it is, one of the best pieces of music ever made in any genre. It'll appeal to rock and funk fans alike: it's what guitar music should sound like, hard-edged AND soulful. The title track, ... Read More:

My dad was a big fan of Isaac Hayes and indeed a lot of the other Stax artists, as a result, I grew up listening to a lot of music from the Stax label.
So far as Isaac Hayes is concerned and film soundtracks, this really is worth buying. Isaac Hayes shows the depth of his creativity by producing an original soundtrack that has everything in it...vocals, instrumentals, lots of strings, horns, excellant rhythym section etc.etc.
Most people will be aware of the 1st track 'The Theme from Shaft' but all the others are great as well. My particular faves include 'Soulsville', 'No Name Bar' and 'Bumpy's Lament' which specifically has been sampled/copied by numerous other rnb and rap artists.

R Dean Taylor was a country music artist in Canada in the late 50s and his single of At the High School Dance has been included on one of the Early Canadian Rockers CDs.
By 1964 he cut a Beatles novelty called Ladybug stay away from that Beatle which Motown never released but its available on one of the Shabby Road series of Beatles Novelties Recording for Motown where he had a number of hit singles which reached a peak in 1972 with Indiana wants me only ended when its Rare Earth sub folded.

When I listen to this cd, and close my eyes, I can see Ally and all the others dancing in their place! Vonda is sitting by the piano, playing, and I feel kind'a like Ally McBeal, feeling either very happy, or very sad(depending on the song)! And I think there are so many beautyful songs, that can make you either laugh or cry, and I love that! I think it's a great cd! Good job Vonda! Love, Julie S.

Rihanna's Progress So Far Has Far Better Work Than Any Other Hot Females In The World, I Should Think The Bestest One Is 'Pon De Replay' Or 'If It's Lovin That You Want'. I Proberly Think The Next Album Won't Be Any Better, Because 'Music Of The Sun' Is Getting On Well. Being Rihanna, She Is Decorative With Her Albums, Always At Work, And HOT!!!!!! This Album Will Be Great For Music Listeners And Rihanna Fans. Also, Well Good. Rihanna So Far Has Made An Exellent Progress With 'Here I Go Again' And 'There's A Thug In My Life' And A Hot Dance Single 'Pon De Replay (Turn The Music Up)', I Hope The DJ's Like Rihanna, And Turn The Pon De Replay Music'. Also, I've Just Found Out That 'There's A Thug In My Life' Sounds Simalar To Ciara's Thug Style, But Far Better, Overall, This ... Read More:
