Michael Jackson is THE ultimate performer. Regardless of how you see him as a person, he is an electrical force to be reckoned with in his work. That man can MOVE!! No one can move like him, his voice is immediately recognisable, his style is stupendous. He has given us some memorable music and dance, and I for one am grateful for that. I've wanted this CD just off the strength of The Dells' "It's All Up to You", which is the most gorgeous song I've ever heard. Typically, this compilation is unavailable in the States, and I can't buy it off of UK iTunes (where I got to hear a sample of each song), so I'm just going to have to buy it here. As a Yank who loves her Northern Soul, I gotta say that the British are first class when it comes to championing and cherishing good music.

After the superb Music Of My Mind, Stevie kicks things into high gear here with Talking Book. This is one of those albums where an artist is at the top of their game and every song is great. If I was gonna skip one it would maybe be track 2 which does go on longer than it needs to, but who can argue with the quality of songs such as 'You Are The Sunshine Of My Life' , 'You And I', 'Big Brother', 'Tuesday Heartbreak', 'I Believe When I Fall In Love' and of course the mighty 'Superstition'. On this album Stevie shows he can produce beautiful ballads, great funk numbers and biting social commentary. If you get this album you'll have one of the greatest rnb/funk records ever recorded. Been wanting to see this film and finally got my chance to watch it, Fantastic dance moves, yes people are gonna say it's like "Save the last dance" but you might as well say all music and dance films are like "saturday night fever and dirty dancin" lol... but they are so good to see...

The Music is very HIP HOP! if you are a R&B/Hip Hop lover, then this cd is worth buying, even if you havn't watched the film... it's got some really great tracks especially "Ciara" which is a fab tune "Get Up"...

Why not buy this album and Step up in your living room...

I didn't buy mine from Amazon, and wish I did cuz it's cheaper here :( but never mind, I got it now lol...

Well worth a listen and a dance...

Set The Mood

I bet David Jordan gets a bit fed up with the "artist formerly known as" and the one-album-wonder that was T-T-D'arby comparisons. Let's give the guy a chance to enjoy his 1st album on the shelves before we consign him to either superstardom or bargain bin album no.2. He has a great R'n'B voice and strong songwriting skills - at least four or five good singles on the cd.
I was lucky enough to get this cd for my birthday after raving about the "Sun Goes Down" video to my girlfriend. I like the pace of the album, the opening track has a great guitar intro and sets up a groove that carries through to the stand-out track, Sun Goes Down, a great big bouncy track with loads of layers of rythm and sounds.

Although not as widely popular in the U.S. as in England, 5 Star managed to score several hits. Most U.S. audiences first became aware of them from "All Fall Down", which hit the R&B and dance charts. "Can't Wait Another Minute" and "If I Say Yes" are prime examples of Brit-Pop at it's finest. Why they never became super huge here is still a mystery.

This certainly has to be one of my best albums of 2007. Believe me this ain't really the sort of music I listen to, especially coming from an Industrial/Neofolk/Ambiant background, however this album is a real exception in mainstream music, with some outstanding contributions from Timbaland, who I was introduced to from this album. Definatley 5 stars and a real misfit in my collection where it sits amongst the likes of Death in June and Throbbing Gristle.

This album is quality and one of the funkiest I have heard in many a year. Quite difficult to describe, if you like The Quantic Soul Orchestra then you will definitely like this. Great beats, excellent production, very catchy tunes, top quality vocals. On the sleeve notes it says that it says a lot of the music was recorded with real musicians rather than samples, and I think you can really hear this, there is definitely a freshness about the music and quality of sound. Great album, you cant help but want to dance to it.
