This is it, this is the must have soundtrack for the summers. Notting hill veterans Joey Jay and Norman have compiled a disc from roots classics, deep n deadly dubs and uplifting ska. the only thing this album lacks is a bit of dancehall but i still recomend you buy this album, get away from work, get into the sun, rap up your buds and lose yourself!!

Excellent compilation from the DJ's behind DBC. DBC was the cult station broadcasting a mix of reggae, soul, soca, hip hop, dub from West London. This compilation includes some of the DBC jingles interspersed. Lepke (Leroy Anderson) and sister Miss P , Dr Watts, Mike Williams (Mike da Bike), Chuckie and others were a fantastic team. This comp., is the tip of the iceberg - but its a good start. The first disc is more lively dancehall style, the second disk is more laid back rocksteady/ska inspired. A good starter album for a reggae beginner, afficionados will probably have a lot of these tracks already.
For those of you, who like me listended (and still listen to my DBC tapes) - the sleeve notes give an excellent history and background ... Read More:

What!another band changing from what the fan base considers 'there' music.'there' will normally come from those who discover a band at a time before the rest of the world, the individualism of it more than anything else defining why they got into the band in the first place.so many people now describe the alienation of a band developing there sound as abandonment. for Against Me! fans (like me) this has been an argument for years and the same pathetic crap is rooting to DEP.as said earlier nobody wants to hear the same album repeted a dozen times(if so play what you love on repeat) because other band will take inspiration quickly. rather than buying the new album of a band you love fans would be better suited to finding the next new thing in the genre ... "Mad About The Boy" is the brilliant debut single from Ava Leigh, I think her voice is brilliant, I've never had much of an interest in reggae music but Ava's style is great. Can't wait for the album! :)

I bought this album last year. I was searching for a particular tune that i heard years ago at night club. Ting a ling! brought back the days when raving was a must on friday nite. I wish i had the 12inch version at the time wouldn't mind it on cd! all of his famous tunes like wicked in bed, twice my age need i go on. I also have a 2cd album which is not bad but this album is far better. A must in anyones collection

'Eclectic' is probably the best way to describe this album. It's very Finley Quaye - some reggae beats and vocals, catchy choruses, and a diverse range of songs. From the upbeat (Something to Say, Overriding Volunteer) to the heartfelt (Dice, Living Without You), he manages to cram it all in without the flow feeling forced. It's one of those albums you can play all the way through, again and again. Quaye's music has changed and evolved over the years, but he's managed to keep his own distinctive style and seems to sign his name on every track. Excellent.

If you didn't already know, Warsaw is the name that Joy Division went under before they had a 'proper' record deal with factory records. This effort was recorded in Germany, and is well worth a listen for seeing what Joy Division were like in their earliest stages.
I disagree with most of the reviewers here regarding quality; the stripped-down nature of these recordings is where their charm lies. Many of them actually sound like demos, and it is when listening to the demos of a band that one can truly gauge a band's potential.
And believe me, even at these earliest stages, this band had HUGE potential. In fact, many of the songs here are actually a vast improvement on the versions which made it onto the final 'polished' albums. Case in point: 'No Love Lost'. ... Read More:

What an incredible box of music this is - all the way from appealing bonkers Lee "Scratch" Perry's seemingly messy old shack of a studio in Jamaica comes a slice of some of the best reggae ever recorded. For a real taste of the reggae sound that so enraptured the punk "crossover" bands such as The Clash, The Slits and Public Image in the late 1970s then you cannot go far wrong with this set. Half dub cuts and half vocals, we are treated to fine remasters of Perry's totally unique jangling rhythm backing - all rumbling, grumbling bass, timeless, yearning vocals and that funny trebly trademark percussive metronomic sound that ensures one can instantly recognise a Scratch cut anywhere.
The vocal tracks are impressive - the well-known "Police And Theives" by Junior Murvin and, ... Read More:
