I bought this album because I love the track "Tea". It's only 40 seconds but the damn song has been in my head and I had to crumble and buy the album. It's excellent. Her range is great, the songs are neither pop nor country nor middle of the road, but timeless soul and blues. I first had this album on cassette back in 1990, but lost it. Now I have it again on CD, and it all comes rushing back. I love the irresistible angst of the eponymous track "Stop" and the infectiously catchy "Piece of My Luck". Strangely, even the sleeve design hasn't dated- I really love the black dress she wears in the sleeve notes. Also, just for good measure, the lyrics are there too just to help closet singalongaSam fans like me.

What a blissful recording, so pastoral and evocative. The first 20 seconds of Jordan River is just the most sublime reggae arrangement imaginable and I never tire of hearing it.

Etana is a vocal force to be reckoned with! I have heard her perform, live, and this CD is of the same amazing quality.... she is a born natural, with a voice that is able to woo you with gentle melodies, or make you sit up and pay attention with stronger vocals. Her songs have a wide range; obviously, there is the well-known 'Warrior Love', but what of the social messages with 'Wrong Address' and 'Don't Forget', and the gentle clarity of tones with 'Closer'?

Etana's personality is within her songs and vocals; an amazing woman, an incredible voice, an excellent CD.

I'm a 22 year old with gothic tendancies, and I'm quite varied in my musical taste (I love Nine Inch Nails, HIM, Marilyn Manson, Bryan Adams, Guns n Roses, Sting, Nickelback and the Mediaeval Baebes amongst many others). I think Good Charlotte have some fantastic songs: they're catchy, passionate and funny in equal measure. What does it matter what genre they are? I think they're great. There's very few songs which I don't like (which is very rare) and there's not a duff song on this album.

Yes I agree with ralphdogmusiclover's review above, don't let the dodgy recordings this band did in the 80's put you off. This is a superb reggae album. Often dismissed by reggae snobs as middle class reggae due to the privileged background of the band. This early Third World album is a gem. Slick production, sing along lyrics, and the whole album flows like a well thought out sound scape with excellent musician-man-ship. Its almost like a piece of classical music in the way it all flows and connects together. Whilst most reggae albums are a collection of the singles released by an artist this is a full concept album. the first jr. gong song i heard was welcome to jamrock and i was blown away. the lyrics and the beat were crazy!!!
i thought im buying this album!!
when i got it and played with volume and bass i was amazed this by far one of the best albums ever made!!!
the lyrics really make you think and realise.
if you you are thinking of getting the album please get and spread damians word and music

I have to admit that I didn't recognise any of these when I looked at the track titles - apart from Don't Speak! However, when I listened to the album I found that I knew a lot of the tracks but just didn't link them with the group or song titles!

I would never have said that I was a No Doubt fan - something that has, however, changed since listening to this album. It is wonderful and gives a newcomer to or a real fan of the group's music the best of their tracks. Let's face it - the singles artists release into the charts are usually the pick of their work and this album is made up of No Doubt's single releases from 1992-2003. The album could easily have been called their greatest hits and leaves me in No Doubt that it is worth the money. ... Read More:

The title of this album says it all. This is such a great collection of songs I don't know where to start. If you're new to Marley then you can't do better than this album, and if you're already a fan then this a great collection of his stuff in one place. Worth it for 'No woman no cry' alone! Brilliant summer music, or any time of the year it's that good!
