Take away who this is written by and lets look at the album objectively. To always hold a band's best work against them when reviewing an album is pretty unfair.
By anyone's standards this is solid collection of songs ranging from (for the Lep's) pretty hard rock, through pop rock and onto a VERY Queen influenced ballad (listen to Jealousy from the Jazz album or Take My Breath Away, from a Day At the Races and you'll see what I mean).
Most song pass the girlfriend test (ie: she finds herself humming along without realsing it) with Nine Lives, Tomorrow, C'mon C'mon, scoring highly. Away from the poppy sing along pop rock there are some pretty meaty rock, with Go's spiky grinding riff sounding great. Jo Elliot's 2 songs ... Read More:

'The Red Album' is weezer's masterpiece so far. Don't let it fool you that the opener 'Troublemaker' is an archetype of the dynamic and melodic power rock known so well from earlier releases, 'cause what follows adds new and surprising dimensions to weezer's style. The second track 'The Greatest Man That Ever Lived (Variations On A Shaker Hymn)' plays with the surprised but spoiled listener in its style variations based on the same rough yet harmonious theme and is, in my opinion, not only weezer's best composition ever, but no less than one of the most surprising, catchiest and simply... best rock songs released in years!
Yes, you read right: weezer goes from straight-forward melodic rock craftmanship to boasting out their musical talents ... Read More:

There really are not words enough to describe the sweep and grandeur of Leonard's 1988 masterpiece. Age cannot wither, nor custom stale its infinite variety. There are many common misperceptions of Mr.Cohen, but none more frustrating to a lifelong fan than that of suicidal, morbid folk-singer. My own personal vision is of the ultimate caberet crooner, the last-dance, last-chance, end-of-the-night performer, dispensing gems of wisdom sometimes with an urbane humour, but always with love and a song in his heart: a mixture of Aznavour, Brel, and Noel Coward, with a little Brecht thrown in for good measure. This album answers perfectly that call, most seductively and gorgeously in LC's reading of Lorca's 'Little Viennese Waltz' (here recast as TAKE THIS WALTZ): ... Read More:

This is not even close to being a 4 or 5 star album. Bands clearly have to evolve and usually when this is done correctly for every fan they lose they will gain 5 more, however Linkin Park have unfortunately evolved into overalll nothingness, the distinct lack of heaviness makes this record a bit of a chore to listen to. There are moments of promise dotted around the album but on the whole very little actually grabs you and forces you to keep playing it over and over.
The only really promising songs are the main single What Ive Done and Given Up, but once again despite the attempts to evolve it is very similar to the first track of Meteora though i must admit the simple but catchy guitar riff is a winner. On the subject of the guitars though it does sounds ... Read More:

a perfect mix of rock and acoustic, which is what they do best. yes, even better than colour and the shape in my opinion
Release Date October 15, 2007
My friend played me Room For Squares one day and after that I was truelly smitten with this artist!!
I cannot get enough of his bluesy notes and can honestly say there is not a single track on any of his albums that I do not like. His style suits all moods and his lyrics draws you in to your imagination and allows you to shut out the world and dream!! Brilliant as always. if you have'nt already heard this man play then do yourself a favour, buy this album and while you're at it, buy the rest of them too!!

This album is amazing. It's not the white stripes so don't compare it to them, just listen and make up your own mind. A few years down the line this will be considered a classic album.
Release Date July 21, 2008
The idea of repetition taken to the extreme in an incredibly addictive and beautiful way. Pop art mantras colorful and dark.

So, not Green Day then. Well, of course it is, sort of (the trio actually makes up half of the FHTs), but their adoption of a pseudonym gives them the perfect excuse to pay homage to the music of their youths and before, particularly that of the first "British Invasion" of the mid 60s. It is not so much The Beatles held in thrall here as early Who, Yardbirds and pre-Dedicated Follower Of Fashion Kinks. Indeed, as a massive Kinks fan myself, one small grumble I have is that a couple of tracks seem to bear more than just the influence of Sir Raymond's band - Red Tide lifts the guitar riff of Tired Of Waiting For You pretty much wholesale while Alligator's relationship to You Really Got Me is rather more than distant cousins, if you catch my drift.
