I heard nothing but praise for quite a while before i tried this. I kept hearing things like "It's not the normal indie music that is being churned out these days". But after a listen I realised that it is just that and what these people should have been saying was "It is the normal indie music that is being churned out these days".
Theres nothing special about it. Nothing fresh really.
This may seem like harsh criticism, but i'm not saying it's terrible, just that it's definately not new. If you're happy listening to the wombats and stuff like that, with no real experimentation, then you'll be golden here.
I think that this stems from the fact that I've got an odd taste in music, I started out listening to stuff ... Read More:

Many Radiohead reviews are pre occupied with comparing the band's albums. Personally I think this is meaningless. It's like trying to compare a bowl of semolina with a garden ornament. This is a different pre occupation to declaring a favourite. My favourite Radiohead album is 'Kid A' however, comparing it to 'The Bends'...Well I just wouldn't know where to start. 'The bends' is Radiohead's radio friendly era, 12 songs, 12 singles if they'd have wanted, and as with all radio friendly music the listener doesn't have to work too hard to enjoy it, the fix is instant.
' The Bends' is also about 5 equally talented musicians working together to make what is fundimentally a guitar, drums and bass masterpiece and it definately isn't about the 'Thom and Jonny show' ... Read More:

Hearing Sigur Ros for the first time , as most of us did when hearing Agaetis byrjun, is akin, i imagine , to not just hearing music beamed down from another planet but hearing music beamed across from the far side of a far distant galaxy. The sort of thing Star Trek "Voyager" might have heard on their sojourn through the delta quadrant.( the cover , featuring a ballpoint pen drawing by a friend of the band further ratifies the music's alien ambience) The nearest comparison, and i realise that i am being far from being original here, are The Cocteau Twins , though even their celestial otherworldliness does,nt really compare to the Icelandic quartet.
Agaetis byrjun (Icelandic for An alright start) was originally released in June 1999 and is actually the bands second ... Read More:

After the master blasting of previous CDs I found this collection very disappointing. Unless you like pop rock or country and western, you'll feel pretty cheated. Where is the heavy rock, the hip hop ? Bring it back.

There really are not words enough to describe the sweep and grandeur of Leonard's 1988 masterpiece. Age cannot wither, nor custom stale its infinite variety. There are many common misperceptions of Mr.Cohen, but none more frustrating to a lifelong fan than that of suicidal, morbid folk-singer. My own personal vision is of the ultimate caberet crooner, the last-dance, last-chance, end-of-the-night performer, dispensing gems of wisdom sometimes with an urbane humour, but always with love and a song in his heart: a mixture of Aznavour, Brel, and Noel Coward, with a little Brecht thrown in for good measure. This album answers perfectly that call, most seductively and gorgeously in LC's reading of Lorca's 'Little Viennese Waltz' (here recast as TAKE THIS WALTZ): "There's a concert hall ... Read More:

AS A DEVOTEE OF ABBA I THINK THIS COLLECTION IS FIRST CLASS. ABBAS LYRICS ARE BRILLIANT, CATCHY, STORY TELLING SONGS WHICH FOR THE MOST PART STAND THE TEST OF TIME. OUTSTANDING TRACKS FOR ME FROM THIS COLLECTION WOULD BE SOS, THE NAME OF THE GAME, THE WINNER TAKES IT ALL ( AGNETHA AT HER MOST HEART WRENCHING) AND KNOWING ME KNOWING YOU. THIS COLLECTION CAN HOLD ITS HEAD UP AGAINST ANY OTHER.

while looking for mushroomhead albums amazon suggested this album to me. really this music is not for me. far to whiney and teenage heartbreak struggel kind of music. although its well produced and is all good stuff if your into that. but if your into the more chunky/heavy guys like metallica korn and mudvaynce I doubt these guys are for you

Ok, I love the Thriller album, it's an absolute classic, the first 9 songs on this album are worth the purchase alone if you don't already own them ... BUT ... the remixes? Yeah, I quite like the girl is mine 2008 and P.Y.T 2008, the Billie Jean remix is ok but Kanye should keep his mouth shut with his yeahs and stuff but the Wanna be startin' something mix? WTF is that all about? This is a Michael Jackson album and he only sings one verse on the whole song, is Akon so desperate to make his name that he's got to steal Michael's glory on a Michael Jackson album? I'm not saying the songs rubbish but I am saying it doesn't sound like Michael had a very big part in it at all. It's an Akon song with Michael on backing vocals basically. Let's not even mention Fergie and her karaoke version of Beat ... Read More:

Like many of the other reviewers, I bought this because I'd heard so much about the band. At a first listening I felt it had potential, though it didn't immediately grab me. After several more listenings I have decided it's actually a touch on the pretntious side, not to mention a little dull. Very disappointing.
