This is their best release as far as i'm concerned. Only slightly better than 'Hello Rockview'.
Notable songs worth making a big fuss over in particular are:

'Kehoe': Best LTJ song in my opinion. Noone agrees, but it's so catchy.
'Suburban Myth': Just brilliant..
'Gainesville Rock City': Monumental. Short and sweet.
'Malt Liquor...': Another classic.
'Bad Scene and a Basement Show': Are you getting the picture?
'1989': LTJ's second greatest song for me. And it's the year I was born.
'Last Hour of the Last Day of Work': Always sounds so familiar, but it's their song, and it's a blinder.

The tracks that weren't mentioned, they're all great too, hence the five stars.

Too Much Too Young

`Too Much Too Young' is a good companion to the `Specials Singles' album but useless as a `Best of' as it contains fourteen tracks culled from across the two studio albums `Specials' and `More Specials' plus the 45 `Rat Race' and the very rare remake of `Rude Boys Outa Jail' (limited edition 45 given away with `More Specials'). It doesn't contain the number one singles `Ghost Town' or `Too Much Too Young' (it does feature the tamer album version of Too Much) or debut single `Gangsters'.

So although it cannot be recommended as an introduction to the band it is a cheap way to get a flavour of both the Specials LP's for a bargain price. At this price it would be rude not to buy it.

The first song I heard off this albulm was information error, back in 2002 when I purchased give 'em the boot 3. I already heard runnaway from etter late than never from an old moon ska comp, so decided to go and buy an album with either both or one of these songs on it.

I ordered Wasted days and as soon as it came stuck it straight into my CD Player and went to work. This album is bad for anyone who wants to go to places on time beacuse it makes you consently stop and think "what was that?" Just to give you an idea of the diversity of the material on offer here, I myself am a fan of death metal. Thing is, you just cant deny the passion and fun Less Than Jake have when performing their music.It's impossible not to smile, reach for a beverage and call up your friends to plan a party when you hear songs like "Plastic Cup Politics", "Surrender" "The Science of Selling Yourself Short" ect.
And even though didnt need to prove their worth as musicians, they do it anyway by peppering the album with a wonderful "ballad" in the form of "The Brightest Bulb Has Burned Out!.
Bands like Less Than Jake are few and far between. In this day and age in a post-grunge musical landscape, pessimistic and negative music seem to have become the norm. ... Read More:

Losing Streak [Us Import]

'Losing Streak' starts to show the direction LTJ are heading for and where they really found that mix of guitar brass and vocals that make them so distinct from other Punk/Ska or whatever you class them to be. When you hear the brass breaking in "9th At Pine" you know you're in for a real treat with this album.

Barely even one track lasting more than one minute, this album is 35 minutes of the best ska punk you'll ever hear. I guarantee that you'll run out of energy before this album ever does. Maybe not as strong in the lyrics as 'Hello Rockview' or later albums but it certainly is faster, heavier and more enjoyable.

Smash Mouth

Discovered Smashmouth last year and absolutely love this album. It's a really upbeat collection that's very 'in' at the moment (2006). It's not punk but it's not pop either - a great singalong album.

And Out Come The Wolves

I swear you will not find a better summery album anywhere. Put this mix of punk and ska on and you can feel the sun shining even in the middle of winter.
Please don't be put off by the fact that the band are called Rancid, even if you are not into 'punk' this album is amazing musically (especially the bass playing).
This album has to be one of the best i've ever heard, so do yourself a favour and buy it.

Ay Caramba!

How you can describe a collection as `Best of The Specials' when it doesn't contain their second number one single `Ghost Town' and that their first number one single `Too Much Too Young' be the tamer album version rather than the version from the live EP which topped the charts.

Other omissions would be the debut single `Gangsters' and both singles from the second album. That the sleeve notes cannot bear to use the titles of either `Gangsters' or `Ghost Town' in telling the history of the group show us a disrespect of the past of Stalin-esque proportions.
