The film is a stunning visual masterpiece. The Vangelis soundtrack is simply wonderful to listen to. It really does take you there. After watching the film again (Final cut edition). I found myself going back to parts of the film with the music that moved me. The mixture of piano and synths add power and sweetness to this film noir.
High lights for me was the opening theme as the spinner made it's a way across the city. The Love Theme is simply a beautiful piece of music which builds up nicely. Tear's in the rain, One Alone, and Fading away.

My Fair Lady - Original Soundtrack

Most musical recordings seem choppy mostly because they are, and are rendered from the stage play, so of course they wouldn't make that much sense. MY FAIR LADY holds up well and you don't get this sense. The entire ablum is a gem and there's not a sour note in it.

I haven't been a big motion soundtrack album kinda guy. Usually where i like the movie, I find some movie albums have a few good songs along with some 'filler' rubbish in between.

From the rebelius first tracks of 'Crush'and 'Local God', to the chilled 'Angel' and then on to the fantastic moving ballad by Des'ree and of course the great and catchy 'Lovefool'. This album takes you through the rebel, the party, the confusion, the care-free, the poignancy and leaves you contented at the end with 'you and me'.

Every track seems to capture the feeling of the movie. I found 'Talk show host' as become my favourite track amongst a collection of great ones. ... Read More:

If you're reading this review and thinking about buying this album stop reading this review and get your charge card out.
This is, bar none, the best compilation album I've ever come across. I'm shamed to admit I was unfamiliar with many of the tracks and artists until I saw the film. In hindsight I now understand the magnitude of the gaping whole this was in the development of my muscial appreciation. A vista of 70's soul-funk really opened up for me post-Jackie-Brown.

My family and I loved the movie Shrek (of course!), and for Christmas my eleven-year-old daughter asked for this soundtrack. We got it for her, and we are all very happy! The songs sound wonderful: crisp and clear. My whole family recommends this wonderful CD to you.

Plus, I must say that with this soundtrack is so wonderful that I would recommend it even to those who have never seen the movie. It's absolutely great!

Also the listing as on this site when I bought the CD is wrong - there are only 24 tracks not 26 as shown - these two are missing: 17. Elgar: Pomp And Circumstance March No.1 In D Major + 19. Maggie Gave A Thistle - and the order of the others differs somewhat...

Great wonderful music - you don't need me to tell you that. The excellent score from a much loved film, this contains some timeless moments. And given that a lot of money has clearly been spent updating the packaging and background detail, you'd be forgiven for thinking the producers would have taken the trouble to remaster the music. Not so. It is probably the worst recording I have ever paid money for - echoey, compressed and with very little bass. If you can imagine dangling a small television over one end of your bath while using an ear trumpet at the other end to record the sound onto an old computer cassette recorder, you get some idea of how bad this sounds.
