This is a sequence of 20 or more especially comissioned carols (the brain child of Stephen Cleobury) for the Annual Christmas Eve carol service at Kings College, Cambridge and, therefore, is a most unusual series of new and varied interpretations on the concept of the word 'carol'. I felt I was in the dark somewhat when I ordered this, as there is no information about what is on it here, but because of connections to Durham Cathedral I felt I couldn't really go wrong, and I am very pleased I did buy this.

4 CDs, each one recorded by a different Cathedral choir - Durham, York, Southwark and Norwich, and containing just about every carol you could ever want. Over 4 hours worth of playing.

It is nice to see some less common carols featured (Britten's Hymn to the virgin, Leighton's little-heard version of the Coventry Carol, Here is the little door, O little one sweet), as well as all the old favourites (O come all ye faithful, O little town of Bethlehem, Hark the herald, God rest ye merry gentlemen, Away in a ...
