This still is one of my all time favourites of his work, though as we know, each and every album is too distinct to compare. It's a continuation of his style from his previous album 'Far Away Trains Passing By" but with an added twist - the fine introduction of Judith Beck, the enchanting and breathtaking vocal addition.
In life, there are certain albums we have carried with us, where ever we go, whether through new life experiences or whilst reconciling old ones, this music co-creates with one's own memories. Isn't that what music does? This album is one of those classics.

Once Upon a Time

I know the other reviews dont really say this album is too good but hey its all personal taste and I personally prefer this to the other albums. Best songs for me are I Know, Ska Con Queso and King Dub Rock.

If you've heard dreadzone live then I dont think any of the albums do them justice but this one is closest for me.

I would reccomend it to anyone!

Second Toughest in the Infants

Why review this album if it is not the kind of music you usually listen to? Ok, if you like Underworld and this comes as a real disappointment, then fair enough. But to have this album as a random review, and slate it, is a waste of time.
I refer to the one-star review below - check the rest of the reviews from the same person: a few negative reviews, however I can appreciate them. For example, the review for a Miles Davis album relates to the incorporation of rap, which the reviewer has a clear dislike of. Fair enough. But why slate an album simply because it is not to your taste???
I have bought some howlers in the past - my mistake - but I didn't go out of my way to rubbish them...

how can anyone dislike this album.every tune gets you goin,adagio for strings got to be one of the reasons he's been voted dj of the year 3 times in a row!just be is an excellent album for people who like any kind of trance,uv just got 2 listen 2 it just 2 appreciate how gd this really is,traffic and love comes again are another 2 obvious ones,just pure brilliance by the #1 dj

Orbvs Terrarvm

One of the most significant ambient albums of the nineties, Orbus Terrarum represents a journey across a landscape in the form of sound, with each track signifying a different terrain feature. The journey begins in the lush, dense ravine of 'Valley', with it's heavy rolling bass, gradually rising up into the airy, open spaces of 'Plateau', before descending again into the aquatic chimes of 'Oxbow Lakes'. The 'landscape as sound' theme is seemingly abandoned toward the end of the album, with an epic dub workout, 'Slug Dub', instead providing the finale, with humourous, if slightly sinister samples of a childrens' story about lettuce being eaten by 'nasty' slugs. Quite different from all the Orb's other albums, but definitely a classic.

The Emfire Collection: Mixed, Unmixed and Remixed

Pre-ordered the unmixed version of this on vinyl, and I was thoroughly disappointed. It springs to mind Sasha is now moving in the direction of building up critical applause, rather than his original motive of giving the dance floor what they wanted. The result is a boring, lacklustre album that has no pulling power. Even for the deep and moody fans, this is deeper than a mafia 'body pit'.

For now, Northern Exposure is still in the CD player...

Somersault

I didn't get this as soon as it was released, due to some negative comments from fellow Chicane fans, however how wrong I was. What we have here is a a great album, with some of the tunes admittedly containing some elements of pastiche without falling into the trap of downright plagarism. It's as if Coldplay, Oasis, Radiohead, Travis and more had been 'Chicaned' on several of the tracks, although there are the 'traditional' Chicane mix & sounds more purely expressed in others. 45 minutes of genius, given that it is a teeny bit tangental to Maddening Crowds or Behind the Sun. A worthwhile set, that with repeat play will get into your DNA, just like the previous masterpieces!

I wrote a previous review that was kind of uneducated. :) *takes a deep breath* - OK - This is the album that got me started on the Schnauss Odysee. I credit him for introducing many of us to a wonderful music genre - Shoegazers. I heard this album on an online radio station, and was immediately entranced...the signature heartbeat started here and has continued throughout his following releases and has perpetuated a legion of loyal devotees. I have witnessed this album calm any hyper individual :) ( not like my previous offhand comment about a legion of drunken men ) what I meant was it's so pleasant, it can fit into the 'generally enjoyed' category, but slips into the Indie music world with a distinct feel that is only his, and is truly an inspiration to many people. Interesting to see how this CD has polarised reviewers' opinion on these pages to such a great degree. `Rounds' is certainly not an album for hardcore musos only, but neither does it give up its treasures immediately.

On the first couple if listens it sounds like a bit of mess. You hear a collage of skittering, cut-up beats, electronic effects and samples of `real' instruments and other found sounds all thrown together with seemingly no overall design.

Listen on and persevere, though, and the picture changes. Threads of melody and structure appear on each and every track and the album turns into a multi-layered treasure trove of sound. `She Moves She' features a frisky beat, gently plucked strings and a chiming percussion melody. `My Angel Rocks Back and Forth' is anchored ... The Trentemoller Chronicles

The Trentemoller Chronicles - Just sat through this and have to say i'm very impressed with CD1. If you like that tech house sound with the little bit of tech glitch dirtiness then you'll love it.

CD2 the remix album is not as good although has a couple of stand out tracks, Royksopp's What else is there and Moby's Go making a good first early impression.

Overall well worth the money in my opinion, it will be getting some serious play time on my iPod.
