First time I heard this album was reminiscent of the time I first heard John Zorn's Spillane. The music bounces around, is funny, sharp, very well played and all within a rich narrative. The sounds crashes through you one minute and is soft and gentle the next. For those with a short attention span. Love it.
What a fantastic album! Great for a travelling and staring out the window comtemplating as life goes by.
This album is compelling, intriguing, stimulating, relaxing and thought-provoking all in one.
Armin has certainly listened to past reviews because he has thrown everything into this album and I am blown away with the sheer brillance that has made this collection a real gem.
I felt compelled to acknowledge the hard work that has been put into this album to make the time to write this review.

Not another Orb album I hear you cry, but wait. This one is actually quite good. It is a compilation of the live BBC sessions they did between 89 and 01 and is probably more of a companion to "Evil Orb" than any studio album.
The Orb were always an inventive live act, mixing up samples and bass lines, and some of the tracks here are so different as to be better than the album versions. That is just my opinion though.
Hilights are the liner notes by Kirs Needs, the cover of the Stooges "No Fun" and a great "Towers of dub".

The ironic thing is, I was living in the next street to singer Louise Rhodes in Didsbury, Manchester and used to see her around. The fact that someone just a few hundred yards away could produce an album as good as this is quite mind-blowing (but that's Manchester for you).
If it only had 'Gorecki' - a song that would be No.1 for weeks in any sane world - it would be great. That song is hopefully going to get some overdue recognition after being used in the TV ad for the new Tomb Raider game.
The lovely Eartha Kitt-like tone of Lou's voice and Andy Barlow's superb music is a killer combination. Forget the trip-hop/ D&B genre pigeonholing - it's just a fine piece of work in its own right.

I have been listening to psy (or goa) trance for well over ten years now (in addition to other styles!) and can honestly say that this offering from John OO Fleming is fantastic. For many years Jon has produced/mixed/been at the forefront of good quality trance music, but often on the more "commercial" side - his reactivate mix cd from the 90's was totally awesome, and with these three cd's, he has demonstrated his fantastic ability to turn his hand to more "underground" trance referred to today as "psy". I've kind of listend to this collection in reverse order - the 3rd CD, produced with the digital blonde, is a guaranteed trance stompathon - very full on, lots of great sounds and melodies, a seriously good listen! The second CD has tracks ... Read More:

Reasonable summary of the best of Moby. Some key tracks missing, and some others remixed annoyingly. But overall am pleased with the album.

This is such a classic album, which still sounds fresh 13 years after it was made. It has brilliant basslines, great production and tunes that just stick right in your head. It has a wonderful mix of upbeat folky dub madness like Little Britain and Captain Dread, alongside ambient dub excursions like Shining Light, Cave Of Angels and A Canterbury Tale. These ambient tunes are what really make this album special, taylormade for listening to when out amongst nature like walking in mountains, or sitting round a campfire at dawn. And I never get tired of them. In fact this is a perfect album for anyone who goes travelling to a strange new land, I've listened to it in Morocco and on the Inca Trail in Peru and it just seems to fit those special moments. This CD is awesome! The beats are fast and furious, Cyantific really smacked it with the mixes!
My Favourite in particular is the mix between track 3 (Glitch) and track 4 (Ghost of jungle past)Also track 2 is amazing (Space between) I heard this one on other mix CD's but the way Cyantific rolls it just sounds electric!!
Nearly every other track on here is great too, I can't take this out of my CD player!
Copied it to my IPod but the stupid thing has put gaps between the tracks so it ruins the mix, any ideas how I can get rid of them?!
Anyway you have to get this CD, I agree the tracks are a bit short but thats how it goes with D'n'B mixing!
