A brilliantly crafted soundtrack, nicly produced and recorded.I love the feeling of tension the soundtrack creates by itself -it does'nt need visuals! And you get some rather nice packaging to boot!

I'm going to focus on the Dougal Disk here, as it's this that I purchased the cd for. Well it's been a few years since Bonkers 13 was released, and I still find that the Dougal CD is the best hardcore CD I've heard to this day. The Brisk and Kevin Energy CDs on Hardcore Heaven 1 (the one with cartoon artwork of a wierd helmet) are on par in my opinion.
The CD really gets you in a euphoric state of mind, a hardcore paradise if you will. The aptly named "Heaven on Earth" is my favourite track on a mix that builds up beautifully. I think the tune selection is great, they all have mad, clean sounding euphoric riffs, along with some screeching synths in "Xtreme" and "Get Hype." After the insane beginning the mix goes into a brief lull, "Right ... Read More:

The music of Mark Snow helped make The X-Files one of the most engaging, remarkable shows in television history, yet it is easy to overlook the importance of the show’s consistently amazing weekly score, what with all of the intrigues and dark mysteries challenging Agents Mulder and Scully. With this album, one gets the chance to concentrate on the music in and of itself, albeit laced with numerous bits of dialogue, and the true power of Snow’s genius is impossible to dismiss or ignore. I’m quite out of my element when it comes to discussing this music; I suppose it is best classified as electronic music with all sorts of funky nuances I won’t even attempt to describe because nothing I could say would truly do them justice. These tracks ... Read More:

This music is just so beautiful it takes your breath away. The film was OK but this music is haunting. You must buy this CD and listen to it.
Release Date September 21, 2004
Listening to this soundtrack - feels like watching the film, from the opening credits to the tie-fighters attacking the falcon to the death of obi-wan. You simply don't get the same feeling listening to any other soundtrack (maybe because of my mis-spent youth?). Fantastic, iconic, seminal, legendary, universally recognised, i could go on at length - but i think you get the picture. This album really doesn't need reviews anyway, if you've seen the film and liked it and you are looking at this page you'd be mad not to get this (and the other 2 in this trilogy).

Perhaps, like me, you're not an avid reader of the fantasy genre. However, anyone who respects good writing should have read Lord of the Rings. LOTR is a contemporary classic and deserves respect as a great novel. So, as other reviewers have said, this audio drama cannot replace the book; it does, however, supplement the book wonderfully and bring Middle-Earth to life.
I don't envy the actors in the forthcoming films the prospect of trying to follow this production. Iam Holm steals the show, William Nighy (such an under-rated actor) adds wonderful comic relief, the late Robert Stephens gives a powerful performance which I can only compare to Burton's best and Michael Hordern and Peter Woodthorpe ARE Gandalf and Gollum.

Simply put, this is James Horner’s finest movie score ever!
If you're thinking of purchasing this CD, then you're more than likely to be a fan of the film and as such you will be able to connect each track on the CD with its place in the movie. Horner has a talent unsurpassed for writing motion picture soundtracks which perfectly match the mood, pace and emotion of the scenes where they're used.
For example, the powerful "Surprise Attack" will evoke mental imagery of the scenes being scored. Horner's use of sudden and dramatic changes from quiet to powerful percussive passages are used masterfully to punctuate the action perfectly matching the pace, mood and emotion of a given scene.

I had the Star Wars single on vinyl from 1978, until a recent disaster whereby I found it leaning against a hot pipe in my flat, bent and deformed by the heat. Oh how I cried...
Then I realised it is still available. While having it on CD doesn't compare to having the original print on vinyl, it did make me feel a little better.
The highlight here is not the SW theme (though it is pretty dope), but the original b side, Other Galactic Funk (which was just called "Funk" on the single I had).
If you're a funk fan or a Star Wars fan, you'd be a wookie to miss this.
