This album is by far the greatest album ever. Fun for all the family, even if you are not a trad fan. 100% recomended, also if you can, see Kenny live, he is excellent! Worth every penny plus more!

I heartily agree this CD would be best enjoyed if the show had been seen in person. This review, though, is based off the CD alone.
Pro: Following the life of Peter Allan, the Boy From Oz is an undeniably enthusiastic rendering of his life, using songs Allan wrote. Con: This enthusiasm, however, does sometimes bleed over into happy "cheese." Many people have never heard of Peter Allan until now, and his music does have a somewhat dated sound (70s).
Note: If you don't like Liza Minnelli's voice in real life, you won't like how she's rendered here - it's pretty good! The same goes for the style. The Boy from Oz might be a bit like "Hair" - you either love it or hate it.
Pro: His music was meant to be performed ... Read More:

Release Date October 23, 2006
This wide ranging CD provides evidence of a most appealing and all-embracing Barber quality - a jazz band where all members are enjoying what they are playing. The line-up is from the mid 1960's with Chris Barber's trombone taking its usual firm grip, but providing opportunities for everyone to add something special. This is a great CD but its title may be misleading as rather than 'folk' the numbers are really 'traditional' and the style is unashamably 'trad'. There is no nonsense good-time jazz in numbers like Tom Dooley and Bobby Shaftoe, but innovative approaches are taken for such as Midnight in Moscow and Midnight Special. Pat Halcox is on good form throughout with particularly meticulous playing of his trumpet up-front on Wimoweh and in support ... Read More:

Release Date May 02, 1998
This 1998 CD features cornetist Ken Colyer on three separate occasions broadcasting for the BBC with his part-time bands of the '70s. Two of the groups (from 1972 or 1977) also have trombonist Len Baldwin, either John Warr or Gerry Turnham on clarinet and a three- or four-piece rhythm section with pianist Ray Smith on the later date. The other session (from 1975) features Colyer with a reunited Crane River Jazzband, an expanded group with a second trumpeter and such notables as clarinetist Monty Sunshine and John R. T. Davies tripling on alto, baritone and trombone. Overall, the three dates are quite consistent, each offering high quality examples of New Orleans jazz. Among the highlights are "There's Yes, Yes in Your Eyes," "Shim-Me-Sha Wabble," ... Read More:
