This is the first of Sinatra I had ever heard. I don't want to bore you so ill get straight to the point. The music is played flawlessly, the recording quality is fantastically clear, Dean Frank and Sammy are such amazing performers that they will leave you wanting to listen to so much more of their work. A great start into the exploration of jazz and Sinatra.

I originally had this recording on Brunswick (Stereo!) vinyl from 1959, but it has long gone.
After seeing it available on CD I had no hesitation in buying it again. Everyone on the recording seems to be having a good time, and the music ranges from pure jazz to a couple of more "ballad" type songs.
The US import I received is in Mono (which is probably better as some early stereo records seem too "separated"). Excellent quality and fine performances. 18 tracks, but it all fitted on one LP as some of the tunes are only between one and two minutes long.
I recall the film was partly fun, part "lump in throat" with a mushy ending, but well worth a viewing.
Not one of the best known soundtrack albums, ... Read More:

My Mum introduced me to Cliff whilst I was still in the womb and since then I have grown up with wonderful memories of Christmas and Wimbledon. This collection is probably the pinnacle of his career, expounding on his singing talents and soul abilities.
Despite being in a wheelchair you can really dance to this one.

I dont know how i missed this CD first time around.I bought another at the same price first & they were not the original recordings (see review).
I have most of the best recordings of Frankie taken from vinyl. This album has been remastered using Franks original voice and like a lot of other CDs they can be a bit bright in the top end.I played tracks from the vinyl copy & compared them with these recordings using two CD players. The only difference after i set the volume level's was these recordings jumped right out at you so to speak,or more noticeable volume. Also one must not forget what we played these songs on back in the fifties it was'nt the state of the art HiFi,i myself had a dansette record player as my finance's could not stretch to ... The only thing I will regret in my life is not being able to see and hear this band live in person in London back in February 1972. I had the Decca Phase Four stereo 2 LP set and when I visited Brittan in 2005 I played them again but found the poor balance detracted from the thought of bringing them back with me to Australia and buying a turntable to play them again.
Now this is no longer necessary and it seems with no to do Michael Dutton has cleaned up the often very poor balance Decca went to press with. So much so those of you who have never heard the LP's will just think it's a bit closely miked but it seemed to me it was well over the top of the tape's dynamic range especially the very fiery numbers such as Peanut ... This album is one of the best if not the best live albums I own. The show has superb reviews already and that goes without saying. I give it five stars not only for the performance but also the recording. If you turn it up loud and shut your eyes you can imagine the "Sands" with the slight crowd noise and odd "chinking" of the glasses in the audience and really feel and almost see that you are right in the middle of the auditorium with this fantastic band in front of you along with the worlds greatest singer - it's that good!
