This early EP is surprisingly good. It also contains the original version of the excellent God! Show Me Magic!, which is basically the same except for the production, but still different enough to be satisying for a collector of their songs, and good enough to be enjoyable to listen to. The last song/songs (Focus Pocus/Debiel) are possibly the best on the EP though, the first half being a fast ansd furious rock 'n' roll track with an short but excellent flute section, the second, which follows without a break, a mellow and beautiful tune with a moving melody. It's as simple as this:-I have the album that this is on,but I still had to get the single,when I saw the breathtaking view of Carlingford Lough on the front cover in its Sean Hillen "Irelantis" incarnation.However,don't think for a second that I wasted my money.Quite apart from the awe inspired in my girlfriend when I told her I lived there and that she could come and see it(Result!),it's also a tremendous tune.It has the feel of a fight between the Beach Boys and Status Quo taking place with Galdiator-style cotton buds,with added the bonus of some confused people trying to work out why some barely coherent Cambrians are phoning them up to tell them about drawing rings around the world also in the mix.And it's every bit as fantastic as that ... This CD is a digitally re-mastered collection of Tebot Piws' greatest hits between 1969 and 1972. The band was a pioneering group of the Welsh pop scene. The first 4 tracks; Yr Hogyn Pren,Dan Ddwr oer y Llyn, Llanfihangel and Marwnad llon Wili John, were the first songs to be released, all in 1969 on a small known record label called 'Recordiau'r Dryw' before the band were signed up by 'Sain' the main record label of Wales in 1970. The recording quality is poorer on these tracks than the rest but the songs are still good. The majority of the tracks are guitar based but with an array of backing instruments including banjo's and ukuleles, with the odd kazoo not uncommon.
