I went to see Status Quo at Cardiff Castle way back in 1976 as a naive youngster totally besotted with the above mentioned. It was a one day festival faeturing bands such as Hawkwind, The Strawbs, Curved Air, The headlining Quo and the opening act of the day Budgie.
It was a red hot blue sky day, the atmosphere just wonderful and then this band came on stage, didn't speak initially, just went into the opening track on this album 'Breaking all the house rules'. My jaw dropped, Burke Shelly (who I'd never heard of at that time) belting out the lyrics backed by his own faultless bass riffs which formed the backdrop of the whole idea complimented by Tony Bourge' brilliant lead breaks with Steve Williams kicking the other two up the arse with ... Secret Dreams and Forbidden Fire

If you don't already own this masterpiece by the Welsh wonder Bonnie Tyler, what are you waiting for? BUY IT!!!
I'm a huge fan of Bonnie, own most of her albums from 1977 to 2006 but "Secret Dreams and Forbidden Fire" is one of my all time favorites.
This is a solid rock album, if you love Meatloaf's sound back in the 80s, you'll discover that Bonnie is the female Meatloaf when hearing some of the incrediable tracks on this CD.
There really isn't a bad song on the album but "Ravishing", "No Way To Treat A Lady", "Loving You Is A Dirty Job" and "Before This Night Is Through" and my four most favorites.
Do yourself a favour and order this amazing CD today!

Having seen this band on numerous occasions it always seemed a tragedy that they never acheived the success they deserved whilst other, less talented bands went onto fame and fortune. Budgie always gave you your moneys worth and they are one of the few bands that never made a really bad album and in Burke Shelley had one of the all time great bassists and singers. This, along with their first and 'bandolier' is the pick of the crop. From the ferocious opener 'whiskey river' to the frantic'stranded' not a track is waisted 'bottled' lets Tony Bourge show off his slide skills and Budgie always had a knack for writing great acoustic songs and 'make me happy' is no exception.
