Having just read the most recent review below, I felt I had to add my own tuppence worth. Having heard about them many years ago - I think Kurt Cobain may have dropped their name in some interview - they were one of those bands whose very name held a mystique, though in the pre-CD reissue and internet days, remember them?, it was a tricky proposition.
So seeing this box site for less than a tenner, I took the plunge and am now kicking myself for only now discovering the infectious delights of the YMG. Extremely spare and dry in presentation, the undersung vocals and 'feel' guitars are a blast of fresh air in these days of overwrought emoting. Give your ears a treat and get this box set. You have nothing to lose but your musical blinkers.

What a fabulous album... I'm truly speechless by the melancholy of this record, it is just perfect. The songs take you into a deep pain, the arrangements are amazing. Listen the string parts in 'Violet' along with the suffering of Kelly's voice through the words and sad melodies the songs (listen to Jayne!)... this record urges you to get a glass of good whiskey, turn off the lights and ...

This album is true reflection of the great talent Kelly Jones has as a songwriter and above all how melodic he can be throughout the songs, it feels real and in your face, showing that you don't need over the top production to create great songs... don't miss this album.

Live at Treorchy

This CD made for spectacular listening, i was in Treorchy on the night this was recorded and listening to it again all these years later bought back some memories. This is welsh humour at it's best and would probably be lost on anyone else, but for the pure parody of the songs it's really worth a listen.

well nothing can ever beat the famous Babyon etc. however this album has a certain edge to it. you wouldn't be wasting your money by getting this album.

A clichèd album title leads only to uninspired lyrics and repetitive melodies that make you wonder if there's a scratch or a thumb print on the disc. "Even God" is about the only thing that saves this album, well not so much saves it but stops it being twelve tracks of crap, instead it's just eleven. I would say stick to your opera, love, but then that was never great either.

This cd is a must have, it contains some of their best songs. They are alot heavier and raw then in most of their other songs on their later albums. It contains red is the new black and escape artists never die which are on casually dressed. But includes 5 other amazing songs. The Getaway plan is an amazing song and the vocals sound alot different as Matt Davies was experimenting with his voice. All in all it contains the best songs FFAF have ever written. Buy It!!
