If like me you used to dismiss music that was not sung in English, then buy this now and change your view on the music out there in the wide world. I got into Manu Chao by chance when I spoke to a very knowing person who advised me to try him out. Not many people have heard of Manu Chao presumably because he is just not written about in the British music press. The music itself as described by others is a mix of world music, sung in several languages including English. The songs just bring joy and addiction. Though this is obviously a "cheapo" release with very sparse information about the tracks and the artist, it is actually a pretty well compiled CD of some of Hardy's best early recordings.

Containing most her of biggest hits like "Ce Petite Coeur", "Tous les Garcons et les Filles", "La Maison Ou J'Ai Grandi" and her only British top 20 hit-single "All Over the World", the CD gives a fine introduction to the most melodic and catchy side of Hardy.

A few harder to find tracks have also been included, among those English versions of some of her biggest hits in France.

For those who are not familar with Hardy's Vogue recordings or who just like intelligent 1960's pop, this CD is highly recommended.

'Big Blue Ball' is a true world album in every sense of the word, with a hugely diverse and inspiring collection of artists in one place. From the wonderful album opener 'Whole Thing' you know you're in for a real treat. This song sounds strongly like a Peter Gabriel solo track, which is no bad thing at all. 'Habibe' has a beautiful Arabic feel, 'Shadow' is reminiscent of the Gypsy kings and 'Altus Silva' has heavenly celtic influences. Just some of the world influences on show here. There are haunting and moving lyrics on 'Everything Comes From You' and I could sit back and immerse myself in this track over and over. I just felt completely compelled to write my first ever review for this special album. I bought this on a recommendation from Amazon, thank you Amazon. To say that this album is good is an understatement, it's exceptional! Ceu's voice conveys a superb depth of emotion; her soothing sultry tones tug you right into the soul of the music. This emotionality is also coupled with a fine vocal texture that you can reach out and touch, I find this aspect of her voice completely addictive.

Please, Please buy this. This is a masterwork of genius. Never have I heard someone with such a deep understanding of what music should be. Jorge is a adpetly at home in so many styles. "America do Norte" and "Trabalhador" are both nods to the influence of North American percussion, both styles fitted effortless into the Jorge plan - sprightly, melodic - this man can make a violin sound funky. "Burguesinha" is a beautiful pop-samba - Jorge's understanding of the transecendent chanted chorus in evidence. This track will have you humming along, tapping your toes.
