Like one or two other reviewers of this CD, I am sorry to have to admit that I really struggled to like this album enough to even play it to the end. It certainly starts off encouragingly enough, with the 'Miss Dy-Na-Mi-Tee' single, and it is easy to see why this track in particular was chosen for a single release. Unfortunately for me, it goes downhill fast from here on in.
One or two people have written reviews saying how 'brilliant' this group are live, and this may well be true. But the review in question is supposed to be about this album in particular, not their live show, and I'm afraid that listening to this CD, and evaluating this set in isolation gets no more than a lukewarm reception not only from from myself but also my Mother, ... This is just brilliant stuff from Engima. All the usual Michael Cretu genius has resulted in yet another stunning album from Enigma.
Release Date September 24, 2001
Many artists have attempted to sum up the sadness and frustrations of those in impovershed communities. In doing so, many of these have aimed to offer genuine hope and encouragement at the same time. Issues such as poverty, gun crime, and oppression of working classes and ethnic minorities are not unusual song subjects. And yet, from punk to gangsta rap, I would defy you to find an artist who can sum them all up so eloquently and compassionately as Tracy Chapman.
The collection (chosen by Tracy herself) opens with Fast Car, the song which made her a star almost overnight. With its beautiful and subtle melody, the song draws the attention immediately, but the lyrics are the real star, delivering a bittersweet message about socail problems ... Read More:

This album has to be listened to to be believed. It is simply amazing with more of my favourite songs all on one album. This album was released in 2000 even though Eva died in 1996 of cancer. Unfortunately, the album only reached number 25 in the charts unlike Songbird, Imagine and the most recent American Tune which all reached number 1.
For those that have never heard of Eva, she was an American whose style could never be categorised which proved to be the biggest downfall in her career as no one would sign her unless she was in a specific genre. I would say the style of this album is a little more folk and bluesy than some of her other albums and the tempo is a lot slower in e.g. Anniversary Song than you may find in other songs such as 'How Can I Keep ... For me, this is ryan's 3rd best album (after gold and easy tiger) yet i still give it 5 stars, that pretty much says it all (I'm going to keep writing anyway). For me this was the starting point of better things to come, it is in itself a very good album with songs like 'oh my sweet carolina' and 'come pick me up' being personal highlights, it was a very good debut solo album and probably only comes behind the other two albums mentioned because it is maybe a little harder to get into. I still listen to this album a lot and is very much a must own for any fan of Mr Adams, although with the amount of work this guy releases i understand it can be hard to keep up!

LOTC was my intitation into the world of Joni Mitchell. Fourteen years old, with romantic notions about Woodstock as it approached the twentieth anniversary, I searched out the cassette to hear what Graham Nash had described.
The "Woodstock" anthem was the catalyst for LOTC success, but it is by no means the only, or even best, tune this effort offers. "Morning Morgantown" sets the scene for a recording that basically takes the listener through a pastoral panorama. Along the way are some observations about the intrusion of art meets commerce ( "For Free"), manipulative triangles ( " Conversation"), Gender roles ( the stunning " Arrangement"), and spiritual quest ( " The Priest"). Of course, another career launcher, " Big Yellow Taxi", graces this album, as well as Mitchell's ... Read More:

When this album was released, Steve was acclaimed in some quarters as country music's version of Bruce Springsteen - high praise indeed. Subsequent albums have shown that comparisons with The Boss are spot on, including their political beliefs, but Steve has largely abandoned country music in favor of rock. He has never forgotten his roots, as he showed on The Mountain, an album that he recorded with bluegrass musicians, but he has never recorded another album quite like Guitar town.
Steve wrote or co-wrote all the songs on this album, which contains two major country hits (the title track and Hillbilly highway), both up-tempo rocking songs, which are typical of the album's style. Steve shows that he can do ballads too - just listen to My old friend the blues, a song subsequently covered by Janie Fricke ... Read More:

This is a masterpiece, this is how records should be done, crisp sounds, a great and passionate voice, an intensity that is difficult to see in other records. I think this is his best performance ever, too bad he was not there to listen to it. His version of "Further up on the road" is just unbelievable, I think Springsteen might have cried when he listened to it. Similarly "four strong winds" is really good and better, for example, than Neil Young's version on Comes a Time.
A record that will make you cry, with passion and soul. I don't give 5 stars easily but this is just too good.

Although Swagger comes close, Float has instantly become my favourite FM album. I pray the next one is this classy.
1. Requiem For A Dying Song:
This track is powerful and catchy, I first heard it several months before Swagger was released performed acoustically and loved it. Hard hitting, but some might say a little 'greenday', of course, those people need their ears checked.
2. (No More) Paddy's Lament
I'm still debating whether their label got the apostrophe right on "Paddy's" but with a song this good it's hard to care.
3. Float
A slow acoustic number, stays with you long after you stop listening to it.
4. You Won't Make A Fool Out Of Me
I didn't like this one as much as some of the others, but still a hit in the Squidshaker camp.

you gotta give it to him, hes a brilliant songwritter. even if your a greatest hits sort of person, you will recognise the hits like wild world and father and son as pure classics. these tracks are brilliant. top knotch. even though the title track is the 1 minute long last track, almost like he finished the album, and they said, at least mention tillermen somewhere. it is a great song. fans of the office and extras will know this song as the theme (im sorry i cant remember which one). also, fans of skins must buy this album, to hear the original version of wild world. granted sids version is very beautiful, and fits into the storyline very well, you gotta hear the original. any fan of boyzone (if any) will remember father and son, its also a beautiful song. he was seriously at his peak with these songs. and infact the album. people. buy ...
