This CD deserves more than 5 stars. It is not only my favourite soundtrack, but also my favourite CD of all time. It manages to take you into the depths of despair with sorrowful melodies played on string instruments and then in the next breath fills you with such optimism that you feel you could achieve any goal you desire. You can feel the heat of the fire and the pain of the firefighters in the film, but not only is it a brilliant backing to the film, it is a superb piece of orchestral writing. Track 8 - Fahrenheit 451 is my particular favourite. The cello solo at the start is gorgeous but the military style drums (in particular the huge cymbol crash at the climax) gives you goosebumps.
