They'll always be associated with 'Don't Fear The Reaper' (and why not? It's a great record), but, given the fact that record companies are very good at selling you stuff you've already got, I must admit that this smart little box - five albums in mini-covers, but with the bonus tracks on the regular single-CD reissues (except for 'Mirrors', which hasn't had the 'makeover' yet) not only presents the music well, and takes up less space on my groaning CD shelves! The band's first four studio albums are hard rocking gems. They always had a pop side to what they did, and wedded winning choruses to tough rocking backing tracks. I am glad that I have the chance to pay tribute to Slade as a live band because they were simply fantastic.I have been lucky enough to have seen them live six times from their absolute peak in 1973 to their far less successful times.I can honestly say that they were just as good playing to a few thousand or a hundred or so people.The first time I saw them was at the Blackpool Opera House.A few years later they played a very small venue at Blackpool but still give it absolutely everything.Each and every time I have seen them they were fabulous.

In all honesty I have never been a lover of live albums,I wasn't even that keen on 'Slade Alive 2'.But this superb effort is most probably the finest live album ever made.It captures the band ... Read More:
