Lovely.
I'm so glad Steeleye have recorded a "Christmas " album after all these years- and really pleased they didn't include another recording of "Gaudete"!
The energetic "First Nowell" sets the pace and "Down in yon Forest"(which could be played anytime of the year) builds on it. Ken Nicol's "Unconquered Sun" develops his "Babylon" style heard on the previous album and then we get a selection of well and less known carols, broken by Peter Knight's gentle "Winter" a lovely instrumental befitting of a very fine album indeed.
P.S.-I WOULD love the band to re record "Holly and the Ivy" in the style of the original "b" side to "Gaudete".
