This is really great! Completly varied. One of the very rare compilation albums that I can listen to from the first song straight to the last! Its variation contributes to this factor because it never gets boring or stays to one sub genre. It features the best of music from America, Australia and Britain! You WON'T regret buying this. I got it for years ago and I still enjoy listening to this! The first disc is arguably slightly better than the second disc. Punk, Pop, R'n'B - it's all in here!

The good news about this collection is that only five tracks have already appeared on the rival "Now 57" issued at Easter. The bad news, for mainstream listeners, is that those five are just about the best tracks on it. The rest are either third or fourth choice releases off last year's albums (eg by Beyonce, Dido, Christina, Darkness), or decidely second division pop and dance tracks that, if they made the chart at all, have long since sunk without trace; at the time of writing only six in all are listed in the Top 40.

Of course the quality of material in the singles charts over the last three months has left a lot to be desired, and I suppose therefore this compilation reflects this quite well. Considering it costs little more than ... Read More:

I would have to say that I enjoyed the vibe this cd gave me. there was a wide variety of sounds and bands which kept me entertained whilst in the car, and at the gym. when I first read the song options I got a bit nervous but after listening I felt that the cd was well arranged that you weren't always skipping to the next track. I'd recommend it to my friends and use it as a gift, since I already have one for myself.

I think that this is actually quite a good mixture of music. Its hard to keep everyone happy, but as far as compilations go this one is very well put together! ok there are one or two unfortunate tracks,but the rest is definatly acceptable!

This is what the title says Essential R&B! From classic tracks like Summertime to new tracks like Blowin me up (With Her Love). This has a huge range of talent on it and I hope there will be a sequal.

If this is the best summer compilation ever then i am the pope. There is only one tune on here that is remotely summery, that being Steal My Sunshine by Len which kinda makes you feel like poppin your shorts and shades on and going for a walk on the beach - most of the others make you wanna shoot yourself - mambo number 5, come on, how lame is that.

This would get five stars if it was called "The Worst Summer... Ever Ever Ever" or "The Cheesiest Pile of Turd We Could Stick On Two CD's And Claim to be The Best Summer....Ever"

Clubmix - Summer 2004

Nearly the usual mix of stuff you play in the car for a while then foget about BUT: The first three tracks on CD1 make for a cracking strart - Stonebridge's sure to be classic "Put 'em high" followed by Marly's "You never know" and Mousse T featuring Emma Landford with "Is it cool" (Torso gets cool remix) - all are superb! It then looses a bit of momentum, particularly the Scissor Sister's awful "Laura" (Craig C's vocal dub workout) but by the time you get to track nine, DT8 Project with "The weekend" (Original mix) - best track on the whole compilation - and then through the next four tracks you'll be in floor stomping, high handed, cool funky disco house heaven! Perhaps a bit commercial for some but buy it just for these eight tracks if you haven't got ... Read More:
