Release Date October 21, 1997
This recording mixes extracts from medieval monophony and polyphony performed by the New London Consort (mostly from their "Llibre Vermell", "Pilgrimage to Santiago" and "Carmina Burana" releases) with electronic sounds and percussion programmed by Eric Calvi (guitar) and Simon Cloquet (keyboards). The result is reminiscent of Richard Souther's new age/relaxation treatment of Hildegard ("Vision", EMI 1995, vocalist Emily van Evera).

Jeremy Gluck (vocals) was a year ahead of me in high school in Ottawa. He introduced myself and others to Iggy, Quadrophenia and Metal Machine Music. Usually in one sitting. His ambition was to go to England, form a band and get a contract to record high energy surf music. This disc is a great retrospective of the Barracudas short career, with various line-ups and alternate takes. The liner notes are well done also, with good background on each song.
This is a lot of surf music, and if you're not in the mood for it it will grate on you. But if you are, there's nothing better. Not many bands can recreate the energy, sound and humor of the surf sound as well as the Barracudas.
Nice work and belated congrats Jeremy ... Read More:
