Although there are a few less exciting choons on this one - tending more towards the sort of unimaginative, monotonous thudding to which so many reggae genuises, the Great Pablo notwithstanding, are prone (quite forgiveably) - there is much more than enough to justify its purchase. 'Let's Get Started' is, in and of itself, reason to buy this one, and would be were it five times the price. And that's without even mentioning the Junior Delgado scorchers, or any one of about a dozen other sublimely ital riddims. Buy it.

Horace Swaby's finest dub reggae album of the 1970's.

I only had this on vinyl and am happy to have found this masterpiece in the form of an original 1987 press compact disc, very good quality.

Any fan of Augustus Pablo should own this! It's well worth a few pounds.

I'm not an expert on Augustus Pablo but I'd say this is as good an introduction to his music as you'd find anywhere. Twenty-one tracks and no filler; most of them are sublime. Beautiful music from the 1970s that should live forever.

I used to collect reggae on vinyl over twenty years ago and would quite happily pay £14.99 for just one tune back then. I can now pay that for a three disc collection with some of the most classic and hard roots music I have ever heard. New or old to roots music, this must be in your collection. This is some of Pablo greatest works and represents a piece of history for me which brings back very fond memories.

Augustus Pablo was one of the most original and gifted of the Jamaican artists who emerged during the 1970's. As well as releasing a large number of mainly instrumental and dub recordings under his own name, he worked extensively as a session musician and was also successful as a producer, with credits on a formidable array of great records by the likes of Jacob Miller, Hugh Mundell, Junior Delgado and others.

Pablo's music is instantly recognisable and is one of the most distinctive sounds in reggae: tight rhythms, sparse arrangements and simple but flowing melody lines, usually in a minor key, with either a keyboard (organ, piano or clavinet) or more often his famous melodica as the lead instrument. This is a marvellous companion to King Tubbys meets rockers uptown. It contains full instrumental and alternative dub cuts to all but two of the originally released tracks, previously only to be found on obscure 45s. So we are treated to xylophone (Black Gunn) and melodica (Brown Jim) cuts to Keep on Dubbing/Keep on Knocking; alternative versions of the Cassava Piece/Rockers Uptown rhythm; a marvellous instrumental cut of the Braces a Boy/Braces Tower Dub rhythm with Pablo overblowing on his melodica; and a wonderful melodica charge through Frozen Dub with a drum and bass cut, Hot Dub; and on it goes......
Sound quality incidentally is excellent.
