This is an expanded re-issue of Goldsmith's Academy Award-nominated score for the 1973 film directed by Franklin J. Schaffner and starring Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffmann. The original 1974 EMI album was first reissued on CD way back in 1988 by Silva Screen, but for this new release (actually No. 17 of a 24-part set showcasing some of the most notable film scores created for the French cinema) the producers have delved into the archive and come up with some interesting supplementary material.

Most striking among the new tracks are "The Arrest" (featuring a two-note motif which Goldsmith would also use for his score to John Milius' 1975 rip-roaring adventure film "The Wind and the Lion"), while "Catching Butterflies" offers a moment ... Read More:

This is a truly excellent album.
It was thanks to youtube that i first dicovered Mouse on mars, and they were a real find!!!

I was sceptical when another reviewer wrote that this album was for the "heavily sedated", well I'm quite happily sedated, under this wonderful rollercoaster ride of an album. It really is one of my best purchases ever!!

There are no boundaries, the sky is the limit with this act, they throw away the rule book. I'm quite happy to say that some songs on this album are truly insane, which really brings a smile to my face.
For instance, the track "first" is complete madness from start to finish. Think- fast stop/ start elctronic beats, an amazing blend of electronic paraphenalia and ... Read More:
