There is no doubt that this is a lovely collection of Christmas music from Enya but considering that there are only four tracks on this EP it is very expensive.I have an import CD along a similar vein called 'Sounds Of The Season' which actually contains six tracks,the extra two being 'Amid The Falling Snow' and 'Oiche Chiuin'so you may want to try and find that as it represents better value.

The latest release from Enya 'And Winter Came' is an album of winter and Christmas music and is excellent so if you want a seasonal offering from the lovely lady then that is the one I would recommend.But if you are like me and want to hear everything Enya has recorded I guess that you will buy this EP anyway.Just be aware that there is another ... Amarantine: Special Edition

I am a very big fan of Enya and have been for many years.I have to say though that I consider 'Amaratine' to be one of her weaker efforts.Although we know just what we will get from her music,this album at times feels almost too predictable and almost sluggish.

Of course there are some moments of excellence,there always are from her.'Amarantine' and 'It's In The Rain' are Enya at her very best but if I am being honest I do in general find this album to be a bit of a let down.She is a top drawer talent to be sure but Enya has done much better than this.For any other artist this would be a good effort but for what I have come to expect from Enya it is average.Still,it does have it's moments.

Amarantine: Special Christmas Edition

I admit it, I am a massive fan of Enya, from the moment I heard Orinoco Flow. I have all her albums, singles and compilations. In my book, she was the start of New Age music. So, I admit to being biased! Her albums take a while to make and the wait is difficult to take. However, when she releases an album, she delivers a 4 or 5 star album.

I agree with the sentiments from Paul of the Netherworld, my fellow reviewer from Brighton who, in his review of the CD single of Amarantine, spoke about other music which exists and tends to dominate the charts.

In the desert, there is always an oasis, and in today's predominantly arid music scene, here is that oasis - another lovely Enya album. The title track is quite similar to "Only Time", ... Read More:

I bought this album because I heard the Andy Williams song 'It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year' on the M&S Christmas advert and I thought to myself "That's just what I want an old fashioned, Bing Crosby, It's a Wonderful Life, Christmas Carol kind of Christmas!" and I wasn't disappointed in this cd. There's some real crackers (oh dear) on here such as Doris Day singing ' Let it Snow', Aretha Franklin walking in a 'Winter Wonderland' and Louis Armstrong having a super 'Cool Yule'. I have two little nitpicks about it. 1) I would have prefered Judy Garland singing 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas' and 2)I would have preferred good old Bing Crosby singing 'White Christmas' but really aside from that I love it and I'm singing along whilst I make Christmas ...
