This first reissue of the Bee Gees classic albums by Rhino Records proves to be a collectors dream. Not only are "Bee Gees 1st", "Horizontal" and "Idea" Remastered, each album is suited with an additional vinyl album of outtakes, alternate versions and unreleased material.

The first album contains all versions of the Bee Gees first international hit, "New York Mining Disaster 1941" as well as alternates of key album cuts. 'Idea's' appearance in remastered form once more after several years is welcome indeed. It should be said that the remastering job is superb, and the songs can be much better appreciated now than was possible before.

However, the Bee Gees were, in their early incarnation, a fairly inconsistent band, brimming over with possibilities and creativity, but somehow a little out of the scene with their beatle-esque kind of baroque pop. It was neither as meandering as the Beach Boys psychedelic efforts, or as straight forwardly accessible as standard 'hits' music.

They needed to be considered on their own terms, even then, and it is in this spirit that Idea should be approached.

I was listenin to a Metal Show when this came on and I thought I would listen to see what they would sound like and all I heard was a stupid little idiot screaming which really does hurt your ears with stupid lyrics which meant nothing.

Caliban are absoulutly awful and dont deserve there contract on Roadrunner and they are just another screaming band like the millions of others out there and are no different.

Better bands that scream - Chimaira, Machine Head, Killswitch Enagage.

Them bands have talent and melody and meaning and arent a bunch of people who sound like 10 year olds screamin down a microphone.

Caliban are absoulutly awful and dont deserve there contract on Roadrunner and they are just another screaming band like the millions of others out there and are no different.

Better bands that scream - Chimaira, Machine Head, Killswitch Enagage.
