I probably listened way too much of it until almost got bored but overall this was the best album for me ever. Even better than Dark Side of the Moon (though not same genre of music). Its classy, fun, upbeat if anything. I did have to disable a number of tracks I didnt like but out of such huge selection it didnt feel like a loss. Still this brilliant album kept me awake many nights while I was building a few kewl websites - - Maybe the songs are older now but still you wont regret it - its way toooo cooool !!!!

An excellent mix of funky house meets a little latino, acid jazz, house and hot soul.
When you have a blend of Onionz (What mamma says), Yass Feat. Yori (Been set free) and finally song of slavery (mix) disc one is my red hot fave! A truly uplifting selection and 5* mix - something to get you up or bring you down, this has everything!

Now for one of the most bizarre compilations to have hit the racks in a long time. Nothing to do with the music, which is excellent throughout, but rather the result of a tracklisting that veers from one genre to another with no apparent direction or meaning - but in a good way!

In any event, as the title somewhat gives away, Mastercuts Bar Life is a party record which features the kind of music you'd hear at your local on a Saturday night.

Smokin Beats is a great mix of laid back vibes and chilled out grooves. Disk One highs include The Weekend Starts Here and Suntoucher. But its disk two that gives the real 'Smoking Beats'!! Sunset by Nitin Sawhney is the best tune on the CD, a haunting and laid back track with great vocals with a hindi/arabic tip!!

also a hint for readers, this album is best enjoyed either with a fattie, after a heavy night of E-xitement and happy dancing or for the best effect, chilling with a few mushies!! AMAZING!!!

Many of the other reviews about this product are critical of this album as they seem to be saying that it has too many good songs that they already have. I do not see why this should be a problem as having all these very good tracks in one package must be a good thing.
If you are new to this genre of music like I was then this album is the ideal starting point and I would highly recommend it to you.

This isn't all about 4/4 french disco though, ensuring the album doesn't suffer from a lack of variety (as many house-oriented albums do) down-tempo jazz-influenced tracks from french duo Air and pioneering producer Alex Gopher.

The tracks aren't mixed, and it's a fantastic insight into why the French sound became (and still is) so popular. A truly excellent collection! Roll on Super Discount 2.

With most of the tracks here being chilled out, there are some funky, 'Typically French' tunes, like Track 6 (cant be bothered typing in French), which is my favourite.
